What is a community? - group of people living together within an area with common characteristics and so on. What is the most striking meaning for me is a feeling of fellowship as a result of sharing common places, attitudes, interests and goals.
Santa Lucia Corydon along with selims antique, frenchway, october, cafe carlo, colloseo, saffron, I think is a community - they make a big part and what this Greek / Italian corydon as a community was and with additions of passero, tommys, hunny bunny, cafe 22, pennyloaf(we miss you) - forgotten flavors hopefully you will stay and the like of these many more will make what this community will be.
They have been in the community forever. But the pandemic like every other place has really effed up them as well. Its a shame to see them not filling up seats so if you have grown up to Santa Lucia Corydon, get to them again, show them your love and let them feel they can give the better service they have always.
We stopped by because we were too tired from our gym session and didn't want to cook and they had wing night so why not. Our drinks and meal were really nice the server was really really helpful.
The wings for wing night special were really really nice - sizeable quantity, great flavour and crispy - if you feel like wing nighting on Corydon, Santa Lucia should be your stop. We also had fresh mozarella bread sticks with an impeccable meat sauce(remember if you ever had a meat sauce filled with herbs and slow cooked perfection, that kind).
The drinks are reasonably priced here as well Beer pints costing $8 cocktails for $8, can't go wrong with that. Lots of vegeterian ang vegan options.
These places are better than super heavy corporatey chains like olive garden where more than half the food is plasticy or enhanced with so much preservative and chemical that you immediately get an acid reflux. These places are serving fresh, serve the community and are a part of your life.
Criticism where its due - the owners should either listen to or get someone who can vibe the place up a bit(light up the front - sell your store front with lighting and fix the light on your name signage). Highlight your vegan vegetarian options(no one in the 2km stretch has that much). Get and treat the servers with better facilities and perks that they can properly service and get more people in the doors. Collaborate with neighbour business - frescolio will be such a great offering with you, offers with academy florist and vice versa - getting ice cream delivered from marble slab, desserts added from sugar bakeshop etc.
Lots of potential like always. Will be a shame...
Read moreA Bi-National Safe Haven for multi-cultural foodies. Beware over endulgures! The best tasting menu item isn't even Italian and I'm not referring to their Santa Lucia specialty pizza that by the way spoiler alert, comes in a close third. To keep your mouths watering my second favourite menu item isn't from Italy but a triple starred classic but blindfolded attempt at the North American interpretation of a caloring counting Jenny Craigslister's go to item when Ceaser salads are on back ordered and the mister is ordering for her. My vote goes their modern take on the Greek Salad. I Thought they were out of romaine. Must be an anchovy shortage or please don't tell me they're finally on the endangered species list. That's the day we should consider fish flies as a seafood replacement. We're so far away from any ocean or sea over 78% of imported saltwater species rot before even reaching Winnipeg by portraying a Voyager canoe via Hudson's Bay. Any ways it's just the flavour we need for ceaser salad dressing but the chopped up fish fly texture might fool our prepubescent tastebuds. I miss the the no lettuce very traditional ultra orthodox days of no lettuce at the boot shaped country's folklarama pavillion long before man was able to survive a canoe trip from the St. Lawrence to Red River canoe expedition like the days when the Assinoine was overflowing with northern squid or Calamari as it is listed on the menu. Those were the days when it truly ruled the menu and not so closely challenged by a Manitoba favourite our...
Read moreI was looking forward to coming here and eating, I have heard a lot of good comments about Santa Lucia. So I came today with my boyfriend and daughter. It wasnt busy at all. It was 10 mins before anyone came and seen us at the table, we ordered just water and kids chocolate milk because it always takes me forever to find a drink. Anyways it then took her another 15-20 mins to come and see us if we were ready to order. I used to waitress and when you come back with the drinks youre taught to ask then. So finally we ordered and got Alcoholic beverages I got the classic Bloody Mary Casear anyone knows its a shot of vodka and clamato juice with worchester sauce and tobascco. You can honestly see right through my drink. My bf got a beer, and it was warm and he said it tasted nasty. Okay so then we orderd pep and bacon pizza and reblits ribs and garlic bread. took them 30 mins to bring the apps. the pizza came out it was a ham and pinapple pizza clearly was ham and so i went and talked to someone who then went to the manager, the manager then came to the table and continued to tell me it was not ham! that it was back strap bacon. Whatever we ate it. The MANAGER AND THE EMPLOYEE were talking about us and laughing! Real professonial right? I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Ever. very disappointed, guess we just went to...
