Chinese, hole in the wall takeout restaurant... It's been around forever. Everything I've tried there has been good until today. We had a horrible experience today with Peking Chinese Foods. I place a pick up order 4 days ago for 6 pm today (Christmas day). I arrived at Peking at 6. They were busy. I was acknowledged about seven minutes after arriving. While there were others waiting, there were yet other customers arriving after me, getting their food and leaving in short iorder. At 6:25 I was acknowledged again and told that a rush was being put on my order. Finally at 6:45, my order was ready. Peking failed three ways on this order... 1) they should have told me, when first acknowledged, that my order was going to be extremely late so that I could decide whether to wait or come back. Look, I've owned a restaurant for 9 years and I know what they were going through. You can't ignore a (once regular) customer 2) No apology was given until I pressed them for an explanation and no offer was made to give me reason to order from then again, and 3) The fried rice was under cooked, the eggrolls and foo young tasted off, the sesame chicken was bland and nothing beyond the white rice was particularly warm. Read moreI have always enjoyed ordering from Peking. Tonight was a different story. I ordered food to pick up and ordered online. There is an option when you order online to choose the time you would like to have your order ready for. I placed my order at 4:00 pm when I had a quick break from work and asked to have it ready for pick up at 5:30 pm. I got a text saying they had received my order and it would be ready at 5:30. I was extremely surprised when I then got a text at 4:40 stating my order was ready. I phoned the restaurant to ask why it was ready 45 minutes earlier than I had requested per their website, and they just stated they make the orders as they come in and they would keep it warm for me. I asked why they had the option of choosing the time if they didn’t adhere to it and they didn’t really have an answer beyond saying they were busy. So my order sat until I was able to pick it up at 5:30 and it was all cold, the spring rolls were completely soggy and it was very disappointing. Spending 88 dollars on cold unappetizing food was ridiculous. I will not be ordering...
Read more07/04/2024 Peking has always been a family favourite. The dishes selected were done by our daughter and son-in-law. Our daughter is vegetarian there ware a couple of vegetarian dishes. The food was very good and packaged well as it is about a 15 minute drive to our place. All the dishes had a lot of flavour and there were ample amounts to ensure we had left over for another meal the next day. The only negative was the tofu dish. I was told that previous times it was ordered the dish was more spicy which made it better. (I never tried it.) Since the order was takeout the only thing I can say is that Peking Chinese food in a previous life used to be a grocery store when I was in elementary school. I actually used to go to the store in a regular basis to get lettuce for my rabbit and other veggies for my hamster. Now there’s some history. TIP. pay in cash as you will redo a discount. Also don’t forget that if your order is over a certain amount you receive FREE stuff. I...
