Tbh i was disappointed. I hate to say that. I was really hyped up to go here. I was thinking I would be getting a huge fresh hot fried bannock. I didn't :( I was told that it was really good here, so I couldn't wait to try it. I looked at the display case and wasn't too impressed with what they had to offer. And I was hoping that the items did not look like the samples in the case. They were round, flat, and nothing really in the middle of them. I really think they were like dinner bun dough, not Bannock dough. They in my opinion were not Fried Bread that im used to. I got a plain one with jam and it wasn't hot at all but the jam was good. We also got a cinnamon sugar one, that was also not hot and it was just okay. My daughter got the Vanilla and Wild berry one. She said it was good. Again not hot, not even warm. When I tasted it, I didn't care for it. I thought we were getting real wild berries on it. We also ordered the side of Wild rice. It seemed to be heated up maybe in a fry pan with grease..?!? Im.not sure it was just ok also. Overall I think I had an idea in my head and it didn't meet that expectation at all. Also the service wasn't that great. No smiles, no friendliness, just get the order, get it done, put it through, that was it. Also no fork to eat the rice or no knife to spread the jam. The atmosphere did seem nice and cozy. They had Indigenous pictures up on the walls. Also seemed like they had alot of food items to order. If you like bison. Would i go back? Prob not. Sorry. 2/5

My food was ok. I ordered the bison ramen but it was only lukewarm when it arrived at the table. My friend's dish (the bison roast with mash and veggies) was cold, not lukewarm, but he didn't want to say anything. The reason being that it took forever, and I do mean 45 minutes forever, to get any type of service after we ordered our drinks and starter. Our table didn't get cleared and we didn't get asked if we wanted any other drinks once ours were empty. The broth in that ramen was freaking delicious but there was a massive piece of uncooked bok choy on the side of the bowl and it was missing the mirin egg as well as the side of their spicy garlic ginger sweetgrass oil. And, I'm quite certain that they only used ramen noodles when their menu says they also use housemade wild rice noodles. The amazing broth can't make up for all of that... 😔 The atmosphere was really nice. Loud but beautiful. The fire alarm went off when we were there and they have no control over it so it just kept screeching for quite some time. The only other downfall I found was that it was freezing in there, particularly if you were seated closer to the doorway. But I was in the booth and kept getting a draft on my back and realized it was coming fr the window.

A Culinary Hug from the Heart of Winnipeg 🌟 Feast Café Bistro isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience rooted in Indigenous pride, tradition, and hospitality. I came in for brunch… and left with something deeper. What I ordered: • BBQ Bison Ribs – fall-off-the-bone tender, rich in flavour, worth every second of the wait. • Sweetgrass Iced Tea – herbal, refreshing, and unexpectedly calming. Like sipping a story. • Bonus: the staff were incredibly kind and cooked the bison for me even though it wasn’t on the brunch menu. Indeed true legends. The space feels warm, inclusive, and grounded a quiet celebration of Indigenous culture through food. They use traditional ingredients like bannock, wild rice, sweetgrass, and bison, bringing them into delicious modern dishes that tell a story. Final Verdict: This isn’t fast food. This is food with a soul. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, appreciate the roots, and remember why food is about connection. Whether you’re a local or visiting Winnipeg, don’t miss this hidden gem. I’ll definitely be back.

Service was terrible. It was very busy when we arrived however we were the only 2 people when we ordered dessert and were still being completely ignored. Fries were cold and had obviously been sitting some length of time before they were served. My chicken burger and soup were both very tasty however, after I ate 3/4 of my chicken burger, i noticed black hair on my plate. My daughter's salmon burger was also very good. Never mentioned the cold food or hair as waitress never came back to ask how the food was and was fairly certain given the horrible service that nothing would have been done about it anyway unless I had another hour to wait for more food. Wonderful menu. Too bad it fails to meet standards. I was SO disappointed as the menu looked wonderful and I had wanted to try this place even before it was featured on tv. It was also obvious that food was NOT cooked by the chef who owns the store but some minimum wage cook who could not care less what he was serving. No real chef would have let food be served that way. Left without leaving any tip which seemed to annoy waitress but she did NOTHING to deserve a tip. We were told to grab menus and seat ourselves, were ignored for 15-20 so went up to cash register to order. Asked for ice cream and basically waited another 15-20 minutes and then just decided to not bother with it. Will not be going back. IN RESPONSE TO OWNERS COMMENTS: I am fully aware of all the problems restaurants are facing with staff. This was about the 6th time we ate inside a restaurant since the start of co-vid in March 2020 and everywhere else although service may have been somewhat slower we were not just completely ignored. I fully admit that when we arrived the cafe was very busy HOWEVER when I ordered ice cream we were the only 2 customers left and still could not get any service. The entire time we were there we were completely ignored. The ONLY thing the waitress did was bring food to the table. Like I said I was very disappointed because I really wanted to LOVE this place. Perhaps if we came back in the evening when the actual CHEF might be there, maybe experience would have been better but with total lack of service, fries which never should have left the kitchen and hair in the food, we are not...

I ordered the pickerel sliders with fries. I sent it back I had 2 pieces of pickerel that were the size of my thumb it was pathetic. There was a bigger piece of tomato than there was fish. For $14.00 I would expect better, the waitress said it was because pickerel is expensive. I know it is but really I have pretty small hands and when I put my thumb over it the fish dissapeared. I sent it back to say I am disappointed is an understatement because I enjoy supporting local businesses but this was the first time coming here and I honestly don't know if I would give them a second try. My husband ordered a bison dip and it was really small too but not as small as mine.

In response to your reply.

Like I said $14.00 for 2 thumb sized pieces of fish and fries when I can go to other local restaurants (Jonesy's in Birds Hill) that also serve pickerel and have a pickerel dinner with 2 sides for $21. So sorry for $14.00 I expected something that I couldn't hide behind my thumb SORRY! The waitress said she could get me another small piece of fish but honestly I was disgusted by what I had received and didn't want anything. The soup I was offered was as my husband was finishing his last few bites and no discount was offered. The waitress didn't even say sorry about it or come ask how my husband was enjoying his food. If your the owner maybe you should have come out to speak to us. I cannot in good conscience recommend any place that does not even acknowledge appropriately a customer's experience. Blame the costs...
