Delicious food all around. Great for a quick bite when craving something filling.
Fergie's Fish n Chips in Winnipeg is a true delight for anyone craving the classic taste of fish and chips. I've had the pleasure of dining at this establishment, and it's clear why it's a local favorite.
The star of the show, of course, is their fish and chips. The batter is light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned, while the fish inside is tender and flavorful. It's the kind of dish that transports you to the seaside in the best way possible. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave with a satisfied appetite.
Beyond the fish and chips, Fergie's offers a variety of other British comfort food options, from savory pies to mushy peas. The menu is diverse, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences.
The ambiance is cozy and unpretentious, creating a welcoming atmosphere. It's an excellent spot for a casual meal with friends or family. The staff is friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. It's a great value for the delicious fare you receive.
The only potential downside is that the seating area can get crowded during peak hours, but it's a testament to the restaurant's popularity.
In summary, Fergie's Fish n Chips in Winnipeg is a must-visit for fans of this iconic dish. The authenticity of the flavors and the warm atmosphere make it a standout choice for a taste of...
Read moreI brought a friend along who has dietary restrictions (she’s Muslim and eats halal). After she ordered and was already holding her food, she asked one of the staff if the food was halal. Instead of giving a respectful or informative answer, the staff replied with sarcasm and an odd tone: “Oh no, we use beer in the batter too.”
It wasn’t just the content of the reply, it was the way it was said. As if the question was dumb, or she should’ve just known. No apology. No suggestion for alternatives. Just pure sarcasm after she’d already paid and was ready to eat. This isn’t about demanding halal food, it’s about common courtesy and basic awareness. When someone clearly has a dietary concern, especially after the fact, the least you can do is respond respectfully, not mockingly. And frankly, if beer is used in the batter, that should be clearly communicated up front or at least handled with care if someone asks.
Fergie’s will always be known for their food, but I really hope the staff can be reminded that not every customer fits the same mold, and people deserve to be treated with decency especially when it comes to what they’re putting in...
Read moreBest fish n chips in Winnipeg. Very popular restaurant for tourist because it is located at the Forks Market. But very much appreciated by locals because it is close to downtown at the Forks. It is a kiosk style restaurant with lots of seating available in the market. It can get very busy at lunch and on weekends. For fish, you have a choice of pickeral, cod or halibut. I choose pickeral always because it is caught locally. Fish is properly battered and not greasy. Not fishy tasting and light and flaky. The chips are home style freshly cut. Served old school ala newspaper takeout container. The prices are very reasonable. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They have been serving great food for years. Wheelchair accessible. Lots of parking. Not licensed but can get beer and wine to drink...
