Due to its reasonable price and selection (English menu, they have a Chinese menu too which we didn't try out), we have there more than few times in last couple of years for casual dinning as it is close to our place. But never had such bad experience as that of yesterday. The one lady who always attends the service desk and known as Moi is utterly disgusting for rudeness. While she thinks she is super efficient via her huff and puff ways but she is always rude to any customers. Yesterday she told my husband there is no availability and take out is only option. Next I came in (I was picking up some ethnic grocery in adjacent shop and already knew as my husband came in) and totally ignored her. Fortunately there were two other nice waitress, one of them offered a table seat. But Moi observed the same, she probably blackmailed and scolded the waitress to submission. We noticed we weren't given the traditional paper. Even the others co-diners noticed this and told they were feeling really sorry for us. Next food was served in a plate broken at the edges. At that time, my husband was infuriated and the other waitress apologized and said come for free lunch on any day. We told her it is not their fault and asked for Moi's name (as we didn't know). We always tolerated and accepted lack of language skills of Moi. Hopefully the management takes notice of this and appropriately discipline the employee. Anyways with this kind of experience with a frequent patron, this is probably...
Read moreNormally pretty good, but tonight I had an exceptionally bad experience, so much so I had to share..I had a flight later that night back home so I figured I'd go here with a bunch of friends (party of 6) in order to catch up one last time before my trip. I left myself 3 hours before boarding, plenty of time to eat and catch a flight right? Wrong. I get that they were busy, having only 3 waitresses for the entire restaurant on a saturday night, but we watched in extreme frustration while other tables who arrived after us received their food, and we still had nothing but water for an hour and 10 minutes. When the food finally did arrive, they had gotten two of the dishes wrong, both because they made me write out the order instead of taking it since they were "too busy". One was due to their menu lining up the wrong number with the dishes, the spacing is ridiculously inconsistent. The other was the lady confusing "singapore" for "shanghai"... something I made a deliberate effort to print neatly. Rather than apologize for the wait and mixup, the waitress slapped the dishes down on our table like it was our fault, and was extremely rude when we tried to correct the mixup. I ended up having to take my food to go, as I didn't have enough time to eat with friends, they all ate in a hurry, all really hangry and in bad moods. Legit worst restaurant experience of my life,...
Read moreThis is one of our family's favorite places. My parents and older relatives only go to Chinese food places and this is one of the best in the city for value and quality. Huge portions and very affordable, but the decor is older and modest, not fancy, but big enough for several large tables of 10 and more smaller tables. Authentic Cantonese and Szechuan flavours and dishes you won't find anywhere else in Manitoba. Try the Szechuan pepper fish, deep fried longli fish, 3 sauce chicken, shrimp with duck egg yolk, braised eggplant and the garlic snow pea tips. The BBQ combo is good too - the duck is great, but the BBQ pork is slightly better at Sun Fortune. Regardless, dishes are plentiful and reasonable. Service can be slow when it's really busy, but that's to be expected. Very much...
