I've been here quite a few times now and I have loved it every time.
I am always extremely happy with the food when we visit. My sushi tastes are forever evolving and they have a rather large selection to choose from so there is always something that will make me happy. I especially enjoy going on the weekends when the sashimi menu expands. The BBQ selection that you cook at the table is what really sets this place apart (food wise) from the many other Sushi joints in Winnipeg. I am a huge fan of the squid and the lamb on the grill. Yum! Then after you are done filling up on the great food there is a serving of amazing ice cream to finish it all off. I always have to cycle through my favourites (green tea, coconut and ginger).
The atmosphere is great in this place. It is almost always full when I am there and it always seems like everyone is having a great time. The floor is quite open so you can see throughout the room, but you never feel like you are sitting with the people at the next table instead of beside. Despite every table grilling their own food, you never really notice the effects. There is great ventilation to get rid of the smoke and smell from the grill, you never leave feeling like you just came from a smokehouse. The cherry on top for me are the few TV's on the wall. They always have a game on so I never feel like I have to be attached to my phone to find constant score updates. They are also out of the way enough that you do not feel like you are at a sports bar. I really enjoy this.
Finishing up is the Service. I do not think I have ever been to a restaurant with more consistent, great service. There are at least half a dozen people doing their best to make sure you get your food, your drinks are full and the empty dishes are off your table. I don't think I have ever needed to ask for a refill in all my time there. Always there for you and always friendly.
I love this place and will always come back for more. I recommend it to everyone I can and have even taken a few people here for their first...
Read moreThis was my first time at a Korean bbq so I watched some YouTube videos so I'd know what to expect. The videos I watched showed a lot of condiments and sauces so you could really experiment and mix and match with flavors and textures. I don't know if it was because it is all you can eat but the only condiments we were offered were a hot sauce, a peanut sauce, and what appeared to be minced garlic. The server never explained how to use the sauces and condiments. Are we supposed to apply the minced garlic while we are cooking or is it a condiment to be applied after? There was no lettuce or any other medium to eat the food so we just ordered raw meat, grilled it, dipped it into one of the two sauces and ate it. It was tasty but somewhat underwhelming and disappointing. Everything ends up tasting the same. I think the grill should have been hotter because the vegetables took forever to grill and the shrimp never turned pink so we didn't eat it.
We did order some nigiri sushi and rolls which weren't too bad but the nori in the rolls was very tough and dry which wasn't pleasant. Not the best sushi I've ever had.
We tried the ice cream for dessert. My guest had the strawberry and I had the green tea. There were ice crystals in the green tea ice cream which had me thinking it had been sitting there for a while.
My guest wanted to try the Wagyu which we did but it was very bland. No seasoning and the sauces didn't really raise the flavor. I had always wanted to try Wagyu but after this experience I don't think it's worth the extra cost.
I usually give most restaurants I don't review positively a second chance but I don't think I'll be back here. Based on the YouTube videos I watched this place didn't really meet the expectation. I'll try another Korean BBQ but never an all you can eat place as they seemed to snip a lot out of the experience in order to meet their margins for profit. I was definitely disillusioned with...
Read moreUnfortunately I have to say all in all I’m disappointed with our experience. The restaurant (right now at least) is reservations only. I booked 2 weeks ahead of time and still didn’t get the desired dining time I wanted. We got there and the place was packed and loud so if you want to have a conversation with someone, good luck. Not a romantic couples date spot in the least. We were seated and waited an awfully long time for someone to come to our table, keep in mind there’s a pretty strict 2 hour time limit in place here, your times are even scribbled on your order sheet as reference. We finally had a server come and explain how the menu works after we explained it’s our first visit. We ordered and waited a long time again to get our food delivered. To the point that we were getting annoyed because several tables that arrived after us were getting heaps of food delivered and well into their meals. Food finally came and honestly at the steep $40.95 per person price tag, it wasn’t worth it. You can see from past reviews and my pictures that the price has literally skyrocketed. They offer no guidance on cooking, you just toss things on your in table bbq and hope for the best. I’d suggest skipping the sushi because it’s sloppy and just mediocre. A lot of rice and seaweed and not much else. So the sushi was a big disappointment. The beer price tag was a bit of a shock too, at $10 for a single pint. The bathrooms are pretty run down and gross. Doors don’t latch and the toilet didn’t flush. Our server was nice enough, not outstanding service or anything, just adequate. The parking lot is atrocious with huge severe bumps and holes. The parking spaces are a joke, so tiny, you can barely get in and out of your vehicle. Overall I’m glad to have given this restaurant a shot but I was not wowed and am not in a...
