I had the worst experience tonight.
My mother and I decided to eat at koya we get to the counter and the young lady serving us took our order no problem. We were the only ones there for a little bit When it came time to pay my mother and I jokingly fought back and forth about who was paying ( I wanted to pay and so did she)
The girl working asked who we were paying, I said debit however my mother didn't hear me. She got the debit ready ... I tapped my card while the girl got our beverages.
My mother not knowing I took care of the debit handed the girl behind the cash $25 to pay for the food and continued to grab out chop sticks and napkins and what not. As we stood by the girl the young lady brought over my mother's change (it being less than $0.25 ) she just said keep it It didn't ecebn dawn on me why she would be giving her change
So an hour goes by and we are talking and the discussion about who paid came up ... well now we are confused on why this worker who have accepted both payments... (I checked my debit and it did go through )
On we go back to the store .... I let my mother out and she proceeds in while I park the car. She goes up to the girl and simply says. "Hi excuse me. We paid twice for our meal. I'm not sure why you would accept both payments"
She says "where is your receipt ??"
She said my daughter will be right back to show you ... but you never gave me a receipt for my cash
I show her my debit and she walks over to the 2 other coworker. Says somethung in a language other than English and shrugs her shoulders like we are crazy .
My mother now it getting pretty up set and demands to talk to a supervisor. Which then 1 of the guys came over and asked what was the issue. I explained I paid debit and my mother not knowingly handed her money to pay and she took both payments.
She kept saying she didn't remember... over and over I'm sorry but she knew we both paid she was being malicious. I asked for our money back and I would be happy ... she began to say that there was lots of people and people always hand her money... so she thought that's how we were paying.. so right then and they we said so you knew you my money twice...
She tried to back peddle her story now and began saying ... well when I asked you how you want to pay you said debit and I said "I thought you didn't remember"
It was a really poor experience... I can't believe the lack of integrity... when we walked up all she had to do was apologize and say I noticed after you paid twice ... it was awful. I will NEVER being going any...
Read moreI visited Koya for the first time at St Vital mall. I had high hopes and was excited to try but unfortunately I was very disappointed. I don’t usually leave negative reviews but I was literally unable to finish my meal. The food was completely bland as in it was not seasoned at all. I went back to ask for Sriracha which they didn’t have and I got some Gochojang instead. Not super impressed as that couldn’t salvage my meal either. I visited on Nov 14 at 7 pm and it was not that busy at the time. I really wish I had chosen one of the other Asian spots instead. Paying upwards of $19 dollars for a chicken stir fry and one spring roll with flat pop was not something that I wanted to do and do regret my choice. I don’t recommend and I won’t be going back there again. Sorry for the...
Read moreI continue to try more Asian food as I am beginning to like it more and more. So at this food court I gave Koya a try. The service was very friendly, but because of the covid shield and cashier's accent, we could barely understand each other. Not sure how to improve that. After trying Koya this once, I would put it to the bottom of the list of fast food Asian food spots. Tried a shrimp/chicken/rice stir fry with gochujang sauce. The broccoli and cabbage fry was good, the shrimp were very good, the chicken texture and taste was like it had been taken out of the fridge and microwaved, although I watched them fry up what looked like raw chicken, so not sure why it didn't taste fresh, maybe an old chicken? Rice was good, but did not enjoy the gochujang sauce.....just no...
