My friend and I are coffeeholic if I may say. We've tried lots of coffee shops in peg city. You name it. Today we saw this coffee shop and we wanted to try something new. We always ask for a coffee/tea recommendations or coffee specials just like what we did to this shop. We were in good mood and even asked how's the cashier guy's night so far and ask for recommendations. This is exactly what he said, "Well that's a hard question to answer. There's a lot of coffee options here coz this is a COFFEE (he really emphasize the word) shop" and I was like "oh. Maybe Just latte I guess." ( I didn't bother arguing as I'm tired from work and we just wanted to chill in the coffee shop. Then he asked, "do u want it sweet?". i didn't hear him so I said, "I'm so sorry I didn't hear. What was that?" He said, "You know. SWEET???? The word SWEET???". It made me felt like an idiot who doesn't know what SWEET means. So I'm like, "excuse me???? You know what just sweetener for me" (again I have no energy for this guy).
Anyways, If i can give a negative rate for a VERRRRY RUDE SERVICE then I would. This is the first time that I felt unrelaxed to a coffee shop that supposed to have a relaxing vibe.
Coffee has decent size I'll give you that. But it's an okay coffee.
Place needs some upgrade.
And service. The ATTITUDE needs some work.
If the owner will read this and not sure who we're talking about, it's the guy who worked at 7:40pm today Jan 30.
Base on the other reviews here who said the same comment I have for this shop. The guy was the coffee shop owner. Doesn't matter if he is. BUT it matters coz of the terrible service u have on your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt usually take the time to leave written reviews, much less negative ones. However it feels justified in this case. I decided to try Make as I usually prefer Empty Cup, but they were closed.
When I approached the counter to place my order the barista who I presume is the owner judging by his entitlement to his poor attitude, seemed reluctant to even serve me. When I tried to ask about the menu he continuously directed me to the menu sheet printed and taped next to the debit machine. After my 3rd attempt to engage him in a friendly manner just to have him rebuff this attempt and make me feel very stupid I gave up and just ordered an iced latte.
The serving size is laughable. I paid $9.50 for a latte that tasted burnt and sour, that was half the size of a regular latte anywhere else. I was interested in perusing the architecture books for sale, but the owner made me feel so unwelcome as if I was a nuisance to be breathing his air. Not to mention the displays were a mess, everything was coated in dust and the ādecorā consisted of things taped and hanging off the walls.
Bad atmosphere, bad service, bad coffee. Truly a shame, but if youāre wanting to support local thereās better options just a couple...

I left this review almost 5 years ago. I am not a Winnipeger but a traveler, and made my way back today. It was cool to find out my original photo and review had recieved over 20,000 views!
Met the owner again of this incredible gem of business. A coffee lover and connoisseur. Passionate and humble. A supporter of local artists. I love the handmade furniture. I ordered a cortado, he smiled because its not on the menu, and he kbew exactly what I wanted. Perfect amounts of espresso and milk.
And yes...the beautiful heart when I looked...
