Punjabi Taste — Restaurant in Winnipeg

It's high time for a genuine review—one that's not influenced by a free drink offer from the restaurant.

They say it's harder to manage a good reputation than to build one. Punjabi Taste used to be my go-to spot since it opened as it was convenient, affordable, and had respectful staff with good service. However, as the place grew more popular, it seems they shifted their focus more towards making money than maintaining quality customer service. Here are three incidents that illustrate this decline:

Biryani Blunder: I used to love their biryani, and one time I requested it spicy, as I always do. What arrived was mostly gravy with barely any rice—essentially a soupy, mushy rice pudding. When I brought this up, they didn't apologize; they just claimed that’s how spicy biryani is prepared, as if I were a first-time customer. I used to order almost daily.

Uncooked Rice Issue: I decided to give them another shot a few days later. This time, the biryani came with uncooked rice. It's disappointing to order food expecting a satisfying meal and instead be served undercooked, inedible food.

Order Pick up Delays: Today was the final straw. I ordered food with an estimated delivery time of 20-30 minutes. It took 50 minutes for them to prepare it, and when I arrived at the promised time, they made me wait an additional 20 minutes. I had my 3-year-old child with me in the car, which made the delay even more frustrating. There was no apology; just a casual "it's busy" excuse. It might be time for us all to switch to other affordable options in the area. There are plenty of alternatives where customer service still matters. Hopefully, that will encourage Punjabi Taste to get back on track.

Hi, when the restaurant was open, me and my friends were excited. Over the time, the food is getting worst and worst. I will advise the owner to look into it, otherwise after some time people will prefer restaurants like Chilly Chutney. I ordered spring rolls a month back, the rolls were burnt. I thou it just one time deal, I ignored it and started ordering again. Then I avoided ordering, fried food. I started ordering roti and sabzi. Because I thou they won't mess it up( which they didn't) Today, I ordered Noodle Burger, the patty was so hard, it’s like you are eating a soap. I had to throw the patty, I was getting late for my work. Otherwise, I would have showed them the patty. The patty was so hard that, I will not order from here again. Instead I will prefer Dawat and Chilly Chutney. I don't mind travelling to get food, after bad experience like this.

I don't know, but whoever was making noodle burgers around 09:30-10:00 pm, please work hard.

I have worked in 5-star chains in India and Canada, but the party was so hard. Idk how can someone serve food to customers like that. This will be my last order. My friends, had a few bad experiences too. They prefer ordering from Uber, that way they can pay the delivery fee but at least get edible food.

Edit: The restaurant resolved the issue and the manager apologized and was very professional and made sure that the concerned was addressed properly. Definitely recommend this restaurant. . . . I have been ordering from this restaurant since it opened as it’s 5 mins from where I live and the food was always good. On Jan 5th I made a big order from this restaurant and one of the items was Chicken Biryani. And it was given to me stale from the restaurant and it was smelling really bad, it was clearly not fresh and looked atleast a day old or maybe it was not stored properly by then.

As I have ordered many times from this restaurant I did not leave a bad rating on Uber eats and tried calling them the next day (Jan 06) and told them about the stale Biryani in hopes they’ll address the concern . The person that received the phone refused admit that it was stale and said it was fresh and then said that they’ll confirm with the night staff that handled my order and proceeded to take my information and promised a call back.

It’s Jan 08 and no response, Mistakes happen but this kind of food quality and service is...
