The plate of food was good. The size of the meal was good. The 2 people I saw talked English, only to me. The rest was not a positive experience. It would be good for take out only.
Only one water refill/check in between soup and plate. No other service. (People were across from me and behind me. Plenty of opportunity to refill my water or ask if I needed anything else.) I stop eating when my water glass is empty. I waited around for a bit. then had to go get the waitress. (I looked at her when she was attending to the table beside me.) I asked for a take out container. I had to box the food myself. I sat and waited again. No bill came. I had to go get the waitress as I was leaving. No bill was written up. I was told my price. then paid + tip. I explained the food was good but i wouldn't come back. (I only stopped here as it shares the parking lot with value village. It was this or Dominos pizza take out.)
A year later: nice renovations, there is an actual desk now - they print out your order on the bill only when you pay. No bill comes to the table. I had the same chicken ball, mixed vegetables, 1 egg roll and rice as last time. Again only stopped in before going to value village. You wait at the desk, are seated, the waitress gives you the 2 menus and askes if you'd like a drink, droping off the glass of water and food is the only time she came to the table. When i was finished i went to the desk to be surprised with an itemized list of my bill. This is still only a good place for take out. The wait staff don't bother checking in or refilling water. All the staff were busy serving dine-in customers when I got there and after being ignored for a few minutes I decided to grab the package labeled with my order# and left ( it was put on the front desk). After I got home I found it was only rice and clear soup. I called them and they sounded surprised that I didn’t know that they ALWAYS place one order in two packages but only labeled one. They made it sounded like my responsibility for missing the package without any label and being too considerate to bother them to grab me the food. When I request a delivery for the rest of my food they refused rudely and the only option left for me was to grab it myself. I have two young kids at home and they had been cranky because of hungry (and that’s why I ordered the food thought it would be faster also I was too tired to cook that day) but now i not only wasted my time going for the first time also I needed to get the two starving kids ready for another trip to the restaurant. I used to like Summer Palace a lot and visited it often before the pandemic. But now if anyone asked me what I think of it I will not recommend it (especially the pick up service) and feel so...
Read moreThis is not about their food. Actually they have decent food and some of their dishes are really good. But their front desk service is questionable and sometimes rude when they get “busy”. They reject your requests with feedbacks like “I can’t because I’m very busy” without any sense of manner. They don’t feel bad when their customer called for a late delivery and had no patience answering questions. Disrespectful and simply rude. I understand that sometimes when things get busy people may feel overwhelmed but that’s not a reason to show your customer attitudes, especially when they waited for 2 hours.
