My husband and I are both neurodivergent. For those that don't know, we can be very sensitive to things and can therefore be picky eaters. It also means that sounds, lights, and other things can also be a big issue. Change/new can also make us very upset sometimes.
I say all this, because we tried this place on a suggestion while we were visiting from out of town. My husband, who has a deep rooted love for McDonald's that defies all reason or logic.... had something near a religious experience eating at this restaurant. Between the perfect ambience, the pleasant waitress, smooth service, and spectacular food - this man was smiling from ear to ear.
We both left happy to the point of being giddy the whole rest of our very long day. And this is truly something, because he also suffers seasonal depression which had already sunk in.... I wasn't expecting to see him that happy again until next year, lol! At one point he even forgot words. In jest I mentioned McDonald's to him later and he actually gave me the stink eye! I truly never thought his love for that could be broken.
This probably sounds incredibly weird, but it was a delightful, low anxiety experience that meant a lot. The food was perfection! I am now torn between telling everyone I know to visit, and never telling a soul so I can hoard the experience for myself. So instead, I decided to leave a Google review for the first time in my life.
I cannot remember the last time I was so happy to spend money...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about the Grove, both their food and their customer service!
Today I wanted to order poutine for my parents and I before they leave Tuesday and of course I wanted them to have the best poutine in Winnipeg so I ordered from the Grove on skip the dishes. Unfortunately they had run out of gravy and so the restaurant called to let me know that they had to make more and it would be at least an hour. Knowing how good their food is, I decided it was worth the wait so I canceled my order and waited until they had more gravy to resubmit.
When our order was delivered we were surprised to find not only the poutine and carrot cake we had ordered but also some chocolate cake, a hand written note, and a gift towards a future purchase! During these trying times it is nice to see businesses who appreciate their customers and I hope that Nancy and the team at the Grove know that this little kindness means so much to me.
I've always been a loyal customer because the food is phenomenal (everything I have ever had from here has been top notch!), but I will continue to come back and support them because of their incredible customer service. Thank you for...
Read moreMy husband and I have been regular customers at the Grove for over 5 years. They have a wonderful menu with excellent food. The steak tacos are unreal and all of the burgers are absolutely delicious. We recommended this restaurant to many of our friends and family because of the atmosphere and excellent food. Unfortunately, over the past year we have noticed that the restaurant has cut some corners and some of the food items have changed.
My husband always orders a poutine (the fries are delicious). The poutine used t come with a generous amount of cheese curds. Over the past year, the restaurant has substituted shredded cheese for cheese curds. The fries get soggy and the poutine does not taste good. We went to the restaurant today for Le burger week (the burger is amazing!!!) and ordered a poutine to go along with it. The poutine had two cheese curds, shredded cheese and soggy fries. We sent them back, however, our waitress argued with us and was extremely defensive. It was not a great experience. Unfortunately, we may not return to...
