Stella's Cafe — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Stella’s has been open long enough now that I think I can share a good review. Things I love: Neighbourhood bakery open every day! Some very delicious baked goods. Chocolate cake is wonderful. Some of the staff are really nice and friendly. Their hours are really good! Their coffee is excellent for me. Not too high acidity! Love it.

Things I don’t love: Have to ask for napkins. Annoying when it’s busy. Just put the napkins on the counter with the cream already.

Would have been great if patio opened earlier in the season. Hot drinks outside on warmer spring days are wonderful. Don’t wait for the fence and planters - by then it’s too hot. We don’t need the fence, we need a seat :)

Considering above, keep tables out latter into fall too.

Menu doesn’t change - same baked goods every single day. A few are delicious for me. Cookies are just the average cookie.

You don’t get your entire order all at once. Weird if you have to get up anyway for cream. Just bring it all at once.

Tables are too close together. They crammed in a bunch of tables inside and on patio and they’re almost never full. Remove a few, or join some together so people aren’t sitting on top of each other please. Especially appreciated in...

#notmystellas Stella's has taken advantage of their incredible employees. Abuse stories are piling up and the company's response to the claims has shown their true colours. They have attempted to downplay the horrific stories, shame folks for sharing on the internet (when it's clear that complaints to them have gone ignored) and completely shirked responsibility for the incidents ("It's because our company is growing and we can't keep track of everyone.") when folks are saying that it's management itself who has been responsible for both harassment and the ignoring of harassment complaints. They know. I was a regular customer, loved the bakery goods, vegan options, and atmosphere, but no more. I urge folks not to eat there until every one of the demands put out by #notmystellas have been 100% thoroughly...

Called over the phone September 3rd for a simple order. Just a a pie for September 21 for a friend’s birthday who loves Stella’s key lime pie. When I called morning of September 21 they had no orders for pie and no pie to sell. It was like pulling teeth to get the woman to at least use my phone number to search me up so I could inquire about the error. Maybe a different day or something. She just kept saying we have nothing for today and I had to get a bit firm with her to look up my number. She said there’s no order using my name or number to place this order in their records for any day at all ….. not only was this situation upsetting because my order was not placed, it was rather irritating dealing with someone who seemed unwilling to help me figure out what...
