Sultan's Shawarma — Restaurant in Winnipeg

First time trying Sultan’s Shawarma as a late night dinner. Spent around $56 for the meal that feeds about 5 people sharing, and on UberEats for delivery, with tip included.

We got the mixed plate (donair and chicken), Arabic shawarma meal (chicken), and Sultan’s poutine mix.

Everything was full and super filling.

The mixed plate donair and chicken also came with some hummus, pita bread, rice and a salad. My brother enjoyed this very much.

I ordered the Arabic shawarma meal and enjoyed the tiny wraps of chicken. The only part that was not great was the sauce provided tasted a bit sour and the fries were not as fresh as I expected them to be (a bit old/soggy).

The Sultan’s mix poutine literally was a mix of gravy, ketchup, tomatoes, chicken, beef I think and mayo? This was super filling for my sister-in-law.

My mother had also joined us in sharing this large meal.

I called to order a beef calzone (i clearely mentioned that) and when i got home i found that they gave me a chicken calzone. I called back to tell them so and the guy on the phone said i didnt specify beef, i said that i did and even if i didnt specify he should've asked me instesd of just assuming, his smart answer in a rude way is "we always make it chicken if mot specified", didnt even apologize. i find the answer so unprofesionnal and disrespectful. So disapointed i used to go there a lot. It doesn't take much to make a customer happy, but here they really missed it. The food is good, expensive in my opinion, and the service sucks.

I’ve tried a few donair places and I was really happy with this one. I ordered a chicken donair and my husband ordered the shawarma. The serving size was excellent and they put plenty of meat (right off the gyro!). My side salad was well dressed and covered half the plate. They also had some hot sauce available too - can’t have mine without hot sauce! The pitas were really warm and fresh too. Glad we took a seat and enjoyed them fresh. Impressed with overall cleanliness and constant sanitizing. Just make sure to park at the back so you don’t get towed.
