Unforgettable Dining Experience at The Nook Diner - Exceptional Food, Genuine Service, and Manager Athina's Warmth

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Nook Diner on Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg, and I must say it was an experience that far exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt a sense of warmth and hospitality that set the tone for a truly remarkable dining experience.

The Nook Diner is a hidden gem, where one can find not only exceptional food but also outstanding service. Every dish was a delightful fusion of flavors that left me craving more. From the hearty breakfast classics to the comforting lunch specials, each item on the menu was expertly prepared and bursting with mouthwatering goodness.

What truly set The Nook Diner apart was the genuine and attentive service provided by the staff. Athina, the manager, possesses a natural warmth and genuine care for her customers that shone through in every interaction. Her genuine and friendly demeanor made me feel like a welcomed guest from the moment I stepped in. Athina's attention to detail and dedication to ensuring a memorable dining experience were truly commendable.

The unique atmosphere of The Nook Diner added to the unforgettable experience. From the cozy decor to the charming ambiance, it felt like stepping into a neighborhood eatery reminiscent of a bygone era. The attention to detail in creating a nostalgic and inviting setting made each visit to The Nook Diner a truly delightful experience.

I went with the special. Mozza mushroom burger and fries, w/coleslaw. The best burger I have had in ages. A great portion. Filling with out being overwhelming. The fries were country style thick and crispy. The coleslaw had a vinegarete dressing, not creaky sweet style. I found it cut the grease from the burger and fries perfectly and allows a chance to clean the palate. Take a drink of water. Too much of any one flavour builds a fatigue at least to me. I am getting older and I can have too much of a good thing. This was perfect. Mid afternoon, nice day, not busy. The booth was a squeeze for a big guy and that seat was loose. There is my lone nitpick. Price point matched or even exceeded quality and value for quantity. I will be back very soon. But no one else should go there, you...

I’ve been going to the Nook for over 15 years and it’s always been 5/5 local diner quality. Sadly it has gone waaay down hill the last few years. Last few visits were so disappointing that I don’t think I’ll go again. The prices have more than doubled (I can understand some increased pricing due to inflation, but the quality has also gone way down) - and 20.00 for a Benedict felt excessive for a locally owned diner. More expensive than Stella’s or Clementine! For a humble diner! Portion sizes are smaller and there were what seemed to be eyelashes or small hairs on my plate and my partner’s plate (??) careless presentation. Very sad!!! I’m so sorry to leave this review but I’m just so...

The nook is a family owned restaurant has been in the same location for many years now, I remember coming here to eat as a little child. We ordered the Reuben and clubhouse sandwich, and tomato pasta soup. To drink ordered an iced tea and water, both sandwiches are amazing and would recommend, however the soup was very salty , my iced tea tasted like it was those powdered iced tea mix, water tastes like it came from a sink tap. Could smell the washroom from our table. Not really baby friendly, no changing table in washroom. The nook used to be such a cute little place to eat but definitely needs a makeover. The cup looked like they were chewed on as Well. A little expensive for what it’s worth

By far my absolute FAVORITE breakfast “Nook” in the city!! You want “greasy spoon”? This is it. Something to kill your hangover? This is it. Massive portions of a plethora of mouth watering menu selections served up at reasonable prices? This is it. They’ve got everything from burgers to pancakes, omelettes to Denver sandwiches, French fries to eggs Benedict. It’s open concept, too so you can watch as your meal is being made right there in front of you. Located in the heart of Wolseley with plenty of parking to be found in their lot and around. If you’re from Winnipeg and you’ve never been to The Nook…you aren’t just missing out, you’re still a tourist. You just don’t know it, yet.

The Nook Diner does not pretend to be anything fancy, it's an old school family restaurant where portion sizes are generous and the menu is straightforward: breakfast all day, a few salads, burgers and sandwiches. We were a large group on father's day and food arrived at the same time, and at the correct temperature. We had blueberry pancakes, grilled cheese sandwich, eggs benedict, a cheese dog, the chili cheeseburger and two eggs breakfast. Food was good, coffee was okay, service was excellent. If you want a no fuzz diner, The Nook is a place you can consider.
