I went with the special. Mozza mushroom burger and fries, w/coleslaw. The best burger I have had in ages. A great portion. Filling with out being overwhelming. The fries were country style thick and crispy. The coleslaw had a vinegarete dressing, not creaky sweet style. I found it cut the grease from the burger and fries perfectly and allows a chance to clean the palate. Take a drink of water. Too much of any one flavour builds a fatigue at least to me. I am getting older and I can have too much of a good thing. This was perfect. Mid afternoon, nice day, not busy. The booth was a squeeze for a big guy and that seat was loose. I’ve been going to the Nook for over 15 years and it’s always been 5/5 local diner quality. Sadly it has gone waaay down hill the last few years. Last few visits were so disappointing that I don’t think I’ll go again. The prices have more than doubled (I can understand some increased pricing due to inflation, but the quality has also gone way down) - and 20.00 for a Benedict felt excessive for a locally owned diner. More expensive than Stella’s or Clementine! For a humble diner!
