I really love supporting local and had heard about Hudson bagels. Figured I’d pick some up in my trip to the market in St Norbert since specialty bagel spots are hard to come by in these parts. We grabbed two samplers of their cream cheese and their everything bagels & rosemary sea salt bagels to try. Usually specialty bagel stores have pretty substantially sized bagels but these are more like dempsters bagels from the grocery store. They’re handmade so I can’t really complain about their sizing being inconsistent all around but some edges were thinner than others. The bagels are very powerfully seasoned and flavoured. Everything has a lot of pepper flavours- it can be a bit much. The rosemary was a little bit odd for my taste buds- almost wondered if there was a bit it mould to it. The cream cheeses are okay. My favourite is the bacon and chives second to jalapeño. Jalapeño packs a punch though and is quite hot when you get a chunk of the veg. The consistency is nice- easy to spread. I didn’t care for the lemon garlic or the dill. There’s something about them as well that is somewhat underwhelming and curious in flavour. It was great to try something new but I’m not really thinking I’ll go buy more bagels from them. I’m looking for something thicker and more palatable. Was worth a shot though.

I am SO happy that there is a bagel place in Winnipeg. Their bagel sandwiches are awesome! It's great to order for breakfast or lunch off Skip in a pinch. I ordered it while I was moving into a new apartment. The soups are healthy and satisfying, they have homemade ice tea that has a unique and refreshing flavor without too much sugar, and their bagel sandwiches are so delicious. I've had three different kinds, all very satisfying. If you want a bagel sandwich dairy free though you have to order their vegan option. They put cheese inside folded over egg for their breakfast bagel sandwich (which is VERY delicious) but you can't ask for it without cheese. So that's something to note. They also do catering apparently and have a bunch of options. And you can buy their bagel seasonings in a jar. I hope they stick around because this can become a great Winnipeg go-to for a lot of people. I hope to dine in there with a coffee when the pandemic ends. My wife had an appt nearby, so yesterday I popped by for a quick Cappucino, Hott Farmer Bagel and hash browns. I found the staff to be very nice and friendly, the bagel and hash browns were not huge/overstuffed, which is good for my needs. They were nicely sized, not "American-sized". The bagel and hashbrowns were nicely spiced, as it had just a bit of heat/spiciness which again, was to my taste. I love vanilla ice cream, but not everything should be "vanilla-spiciness" level of flavour, for myself of course. Others have different needs and sensitivities. The Cappucino was acceptable, and I sat outside at one of the little tables as it was a beautiful day. Part of the positive experience was chatting lightly with the other, very pleasant people sitting outside, enjoying the beautiful day, in the shade. I think it was about $17.00 for my meal, plus a decent tip as we all need to get by, right? I do plan on visiting again, if in the area. Cheers, Andy
