So disappointing. I have been looking forward to this place opening for months, specifically the dinning room. We booked well in advance for our group of 6 to celebrate an important birthday. Our night started great, the bar tender was attentive and informative. Once we were seated our waiter was informed and offered good service, I enjoyed discussing wine with the Sommelier, we even had him pair all the wine for the table with our dishes. Because we had a large group we ordered essentially the whole menu, the first few dishes came out great. That all changed at the duck dish, my friend who’s birthday it was yelled out mid bite and I looked over to see a live MAGGOT fall off her fork and roll from her plate to the table. I quickly flagged down a waitress who scooped up this maggot and scurried off. To say we were all disgusted is an understatement. What happens next is where it really went sour, NO one came over to address the situation, all the wait staff and manager were talking and pointing to our table but NO one came to apologize, ask what dish it came from nothing. I had to ask the sommelier to bring more wine to try and calm everyone. Then they sent the waiter out to remove the plant on the table as though that is where the maggot came from. I quickly informed him I watched it fall from the cabbage in the duck dish and had to request new plates and silverware. We tried to make the best of it and enjoy the few remaining dishes however it was horrible. From that point on no one from the wait staff talked to us and treated our whole table as though this was our fault. It ruined what should have been a great evening. They never addressed it, the manager never came over and they didn’t even ask us how we wanted our bills split. Once we received our bills we noted they had only taken off the maggot (duck)dish. My friend respectfully asked to speak with the manager at the front and he was rude and totally entitled. The attitude of one sixteen is that we should be so lucky to have eaten there. Maybe $700+ on a meal is nothing to this restaurant but I’ll be sure to spend my money at a place who values its customers in the future. This place needs an...
Read moreCame here twice last week. Once for casual beers and snacks, and once for the New Years Eve prix fixe menu. Would recommend for casual beers but not for a prix fixe menu.
The beers were good and they have a good selection. Service was good and attentive. Ambiance is great and prices are fair. However, the food took long to get to us (50 minutes) despite ordering only 3 small plates between the three of us. A friend had to leave and had to take his plate to go.
I would not recommend One Sixteen for any prix fixe menus. There were two sittings for NYE: a 6:00 and a 9:00. Each had a four course menu with a 2-3 options for each course. The largest and most apparent issue is the lack or organization around the timing of each course— especially for a prix fixe menu with a select amount of options. We were sat at 6:00pm and didn’t get our first course until 65 minutes after we sat down (or about 50 minutes after our order was taken). Our second course came 20 minutes after, which we’d expect for a steady flow for a multi-course menu. The main course came 45 minutes after the second. We ordered steak which came medium instead of medium rare (not a big deal for me but may be for some). Then our dessert course came 18 minutes before the second sitting, where we felt we were rushed to finish, hangout, and pay so the service could turnover. We had beer and wine pairings as well, but those came unsteady too. At times we were given our pairings incredibly early, and other times after we given them when we were halfway done our course. The wine pairings and beer pairings were fantastic for each plate, but overall, the restaurant definitely needs to improve on timing for fixed menus, especially at a price tag of $260 (total).
Despite the organization, the food was delicious. Would recommend trying their plates as long as you’re...
Read moreThis was my first experience dining at two hands restaurant yesterday evening for Mother's Day dinner and my experience was less than desirable. The restaurant itself is very clean, bright and has a nice relaxing ambience.
We ordered the beet salad, two fried chicken dishes, one order of potatoes and the lamb all at the same time. To note, I asked the server about the cook on the lamb and to have it medium well if possible as well as a dairy sensitivity.
The first incident occured when the wrong drink was brought to the table. Our main server recognized the error and came shortly after to take it away and brought the correct drinks. Things happen, I wasnt too concerned, she was quite apologetic and grace was given.
After our salad came out, it was then followed by the potatoes, and a few mins later the chicken dishes. My lamb was yet to be seen. After sharing those items 20 mins later our server brought out a duck dish. I was immediately confused because I ordered the lamb. She pulled the other server to the side to talk and as they spoke about the mix up you could hear laughter. She then sheepishly came back to the table and spoke of her error again inputting the wrong item and proceeded to walk to the back. I was not impressed and quite annoyed by that point so I told her to disregard the lamb and we'd just have dessert. She offered two desserts on the house so we ordered two almond cakes which came served cold almost 15-20 mins after.
Overall it was a poor experience, the food is quite costly for what was served, the lackadaisical attitude of the servers, length of time waiting for food considering we were the first guests for dinner service not to mention poor timing of when the food was brought out. Based on this experience I would not return nor recommend...
