Ca' Baby — Restaurant in Boa Vista

Myself and 2 friends went there for lunch. We were the only customers there. One of my friend actually ordered her food about 30 minutes before us. We ordered drinks and food. I ordered a non alcoholic "cocktail". What I received was fruit squash and lemonade with a slice of orange on top. We waited over 2 hours to get 2 main meals. We waited in what can only be described as a scene from a horror movie, the infestation of black flies was crazy. The flies were only on the tables. I actually had lunch at a nearby restaurant about 4 metres away and there weren't any flies so the owner commenting on one of the reviews (very unprofessionally I must add!) that this is due to the municipal council the fruit market, the buck stops with you and your level of uncleanliness. 2 hrs after me and 1 of my friend got our food, which was spaghetti with prawns, we realised that my other friend who had ordered way before us, they completely forgot about her order! We had nearly finished our meal before the poor thing got her food. And they cal themselves an Italian restaurant, any self respecting Italian who cooks mushy pasta would not proclaim ti be from Italy! Fast forward 4hrs and we goti our bill. My non alcoholic cocktail cost €6 the same as the alcoholic cocktail. The staff could not explain why the discrepancy. I was made to wait a further 52 mins (yes I was counting by that point) before the owner turned up. And my goodness me! I have never come across such a rude person. She kept saying they make specialty cocktails hence the price, and when I asked why the se price as the alcoholic cocktail she stated because that has alcohol in it. She asked her staff what was used to make my cocktail and their answer was the same as mine, fruit squash and lemonade. She could not give me a plausible reason why. There was no real fruit juice or fruits (bar the slice of orange), not even the rudimentary mint leaves one top, and they grow in abundance all over the place on the Island! And when I pulled out my card to pay she tried to add an extra €2 on top! When I asked her why, she replied "bank charges are now very expensive". I point blank refused to pay that €2, I asked why every singlenother restaurant, cafe, small shops, every single one of them never charged for using the card but she sought it fit to pass on her charges onto the tourists? I opened up my purse and told her it's better she just robbed me straight out of my purse than hide behind her blatant robbery. NEVER AGAIN. My goodness me I travel very extensively and I have never come across such a crook of a person. BTW her kitchen staff were all sat inside the restaurant whilst we were waiting for food. For all I know they could have been on their break, and no doubt she treats her staff horrendously, judging by how she treats her paying customers. Just read how she responded to people's genuine critique. Horrible woman horrible...

Christmas evening we expected the restaurant to be busy. However to wait over 1 hour to be served our food was unacceptable . We ordered a bottle of water and 1 beer whilst we waited we hardly drank the beverages as we wanted to wait for our meal . After 1 hour we still had not received our order of fish and chicken . With no apology and no eye contact this service was simply abysmal . When we approached the manger she was flippant and rude stating the evening was busy and it’s not long !!! Some people had waited 1.5 hours for a pizza. Again no apology .The staff then argued with us that we did not pay for our drinks . Yes !! we refused on the Basis that they had no urgency to deal with their customers or offer any bread or drinks complimentary as they had us waiting for so long . I’m only giving 1 star because I have to . I wish I had read the reviews prior to going to the restaurant. Poor service No management skills Only good thing was the music, the play...

We waited 1hour 50 minutes for a pizza , a salad and some grilled fish and chips . How can any restaurant justify such a long wait ? The restaurant was busy ( Saturday night) but clearly not set up to deal with the crowd . My pizza was quite good but the fish was over cooked and very average. I have never waited this long for food and the restaurant should have offered some snacks ( olives, bread ??) and a complimentary drink . It seems nearly every one who arrived around 8 pm had a long wait , so the kitchen is clearly overstretched and waiting staff not trained to deal with...
