Caffè del Porto — Restaurant in Boa Vista

I had wanted to try octopus for some time and I chose this restaurant to do so. The octopus tasted delicious, but there were two downsides: the excessive amount of oil (see photo) and the lack of orange flavor in the so-called 'orange sauce'. To my knowledge, the only orange in the dish was the slice on top.

However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. My dinner was served quickly too. The menu offered lots of (traditional) options as well.

Keep in mind when sitting here: tourists walk in often to check out the souvenir shop and it can be quite noisy and windy, due to the busy street corner...

If your idea of having fun is spending time with a waitress with a bad attitude then this is the place for you. Be enthralled in a first visit which results in you being completely ignored – why stop there? – try a second visit where you are reluctantly acknowledged with a scowl. On ordering - delight in a menu that consists of pasta dishes which to be fair is quite good – and the pastry dishes which would be a welcome addition to any self respecting Tank Driving Testing Range. Nach vielen ausgezeichneten Restaurantbesuchen in Sal Rei sind wir heute leider das erste Mal richtig enttäuscht worden. Dieses Restaurant können wir auf keinen Fall empfehlen.

Die Einrichtung ist einfach und wenig ansprechend. Schon die Speisekarte wirkte ungepflegt, schmierig und abgenutzt, sodass man sie ungern anfassen mochte. Zudem war die Hälfte der Gerichte nicht verfügbar.

Nachdem ich endlich etwas gefunden hatte, war das Essen eine große Enttäuschung. Die Garnelen waren nicht frisch, nicht entdarmt und hatten einen unangenehm alten Geschmack. Mein Mann erhielt die falsche Pizza und das falsche Bier. Der Pizzateig hatte nichts mit echtem Pizzateig zu tun, und der Käse schmeckte billig und ranzig.

Auch die Getränke waren enttäuschend: Der Caipirinha wurde mit Eiswürfeln und Wasser gestreckt, und die Limetten waren alt.

Das einzig Positive war, dass das Personal offenbar weder beim Kochen noch beim Rechnen besonders geschickt ist – so mussten wir zumindest nicht den vollen Preis zahlen.
