Ocean Cafe — Restaurant in Sal

I reserved reviewing this restaurant until I had seen them provide the level of service they provide me consistently to everyone else so that I speak Objectively and unbiased.

I've been around the world and eaten at 5 Star restaurants on every continent except Australia. I make it a point to visit a steakhouse in every city and also all the nicest restaurants in each city for the experience but not for the review. When I visited Morocco I was the first to help Google map the local community but I'm not sure if I provided reviews. Although my location history allows me to review any restaurant I've visited I've only made 21 reviews for a reason. I try not to review the restaurant unless I have a really bad experience, a really good experience or someone asks. Typically people don't asks unless they are confident in the experience. I'm going to discuss service, food and atmosphere relative to Cabo Verde and relative to the world. The Service here is on par with the Best restaurants I've been to. Ocean Cafe is not a steakhouse but you will receive five star steakhouse type of service. When you pay 70.00 for a steak you expect a certain level of service and atmosphere to accompany the food. Ocean Cafe provides this level of service and I'm not sure that their typical customer realizes what they're getting. The staff here, headed by Addilton, is very attentive but not in overly so that you feel like they're hovering over you. They tend to have that eagle eye and a sense of expectation about themselves. Additionally, language is not a barrier. There are many restaurants here that have staff who speak level 1 or 2 English and it's enough to take an order, chuckle about the heat or wish you well on your trip. Not so here, I've met at least 4 different server's on two different shifts that speak fluent conversational English. Lastly in regards to service, I've never had an issue with the time it takes to prepare a meal. I've ordered just about everything on the menu and I've never had an issue. I sat at the Restaurant reading my Bible after eating or drinking etc for a little while on many days and not once did I witness a customer complaint about ANYTHING. I never saw someone ask for a manager or raise their voices in frustration. I've sat here reading for a few hours a day occasionally throughout the week and sometimes back to back and I never saw an issue with service.

On the subject of the Food and drinks served, every meal was delicious and so were the drinks. I appreciated the freshness of the ingredients. The fishing pier is less than a 100 yards away so all fish is fresh and so were it's accompanyments. I haven't eaten a burger in a very long time but I did try one here at some point and it was real ground beef which is rare here! I haven't ordered beef in a while so I cannot say if it has changed but at a time when everyone on the Island was serving fake ground beef that made me sick I found that I could trust this restaurant to serve genuine ground beef. I highly recommend the yogurt. It's made by a local native there from scratch. As for the drinks, I don't drink alcohol but they do have a nice selection of wine. The wine selection isn't as vast as the Hilton restaurant here that I used to frequent or Americano restaurant across the street but the basics are covered. I have enjoyed the Barista type of set-up available to the staff for making a variety of coffee and tea beverages and I do recommend this place for morning coffee etc . I don't see a difference between them and those that specialize in morning drinks and offer the Starbucks Barista type of experience exclusively.

Thirdly, the atmosphere is so peaceful. To begin with, there is a natural breeze that flows through the restaurant keeping it cool and negating the need for Air conditioning. The wood paneling throughout the restaurant is as authentic as the food and service and it helps to keep the place cool by absorbing and not reflecting and conducting heat. Best Night Out Ever !!!!

So me and my Wife are currently in Santa Maria, Sal, Cape Verde on holiday from our home in Manchester, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.

We are staying in a lovely Airbnb near to Ocean Cafe and saw all the amazing reviews online and thought it looks fantastic so we decided to head down the other night.

So we arrived and we were warmly greeted by a waiter who took us to a table for two, I ordered a large local beer(Strella) 🍺 and my Wife ordered an Aperol Spritz.

Drinks 🍸 🍹 came and was well presented, Tasted delicious and went down a treat on a lovely summers evening.

To eat I opted for a Cheese burger 🍔 and fries and my Wife opted for a Seafood dish, The food came and again was very well presented and tasted delicious, My Wife really enjoyed her Seafood 🐟 dish, The fish was extremely fresh and it was light and fluffy and with the different flavours and spices complimented the fish, My Cheeseburger 🍔 was easily the best burger I have ever eaten it was cooked medium to well(Slightly pink) the burger was so juicy and flavoursome and bursting with flavour.

After we finished our food the live music 🎶 started as the restaurant started to fill up, The live singer was absolutely fantastic, We ordered a round of cocktails 🍸 and again they were well presented and tasted delicious.

With the live singer performing the restaurant started to fill up and with the drinks flowing and an amazing atmosphere it wasn't long before people were up dancing, The atmosphere was amazing.

We then went obviously to order another round of cocktails 🍸 and then another round of cocktails and so on and so on, We eventually called it a night and headed home to our Airbnb.

The restaurant was spotlessly clean, The service was fantastic, The food was delicious 😋, The cocktails were well presented and tasted amazing with generous portions of alcohol. The atmosphere was amazing, The live singer had the most amazing voice and it was our best night out at any holiday we have ever been on.

Total bill came to £95 for food and countless cocktails 🍸 and beers 🍻.

BOARD OF MIXED MEAT WITH GRILLED VEGETABLES AND POLENTA BROWNIE CHEESECAKE

For drinks we had| 2 specially made mocktails that were full of flavour 😍👌🍹

The food was tasty… 😍 the board came with a selection of different meats and vegetables and some sauces on the side 😋, the desserts were both yummy 😍 my brownie with ice cream #delicious 🍨 🤤

I can’t wait to return @oceancafe_caboverde and try other dishes on their menu 😍… I have my eyes on the sushi menu 🍱😊

I would say that some might find this place a little pricey but I recommend a visit… I know you will love @oceancafe_caboverde 😍❤️😊
