Chapter one: LUNCH This was one of two restaurants that we visited twice during our week stay in Grand Cayman. The first time we went, we were trying to escape the sun, and we were able to walk over and indulge our curiosity based on the restaurant reviews. This is based at the Hampton Inn grounds.. It was another hot humid day however, with this indoor/outdoor restaurant, they do their best to make you feel comfortable with fans and cool drinks.
The overall vibe of this establishment had me hooked! The persona of Ms Piper is so fascinating to me and I won’t ruin the story but I certainly encourage everyone to get curious and ask the staff about the backstory. The staff was amazing from hostess, to our server, Patricia and the talented bar and kitchen staff!
As someone who enjoys cocktails, but is very particular I loved the huge variety of offerings. I started with “beyond the skies” and it was so hot out that it basically went down very easy. I also had the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and my husband had a few cocktails as well.
Let’s get to the food. It was so hot. All I wanted was something cool and simple and they had a variety of salad options. I don’t eat large portions so I thought a salad would be conservative being that this is lunch after all. My goodness we were wrong. We both ordered salads that could’ve fed four people! See pictures below. Everything was amazing every bite just got better.
We ended our meal with the most beautiful and generous Pavlova on this island and we had several throughout the week.
Chapter two: DINNER Because we were so enamored with our lunch experience and the locality of this restaurant, we went back for dinner on our last night. It was awesome not to have to jump in a car, but we were really excited to see what dinner was going to look like since the lunch crew sold us on it..
And if this were church we would be preaching. Now that we knew better on how generous their portions are we were strategic with what we ordered. I had the same cocktails because they were just that good. What was cool is my husband ordered a frappe Negroni which I’ve never seen and it was so refreshing
We started with the humita empanada, which was amazing. I only had this once before in California and this was 10x better. We then shared the butterfly snapper and I kid you not when I say this was the best tasting, generously portioned snapper we’ve ever had. Served with a brown butter sauce and my favorite arugula salad. This was like going to a top-of-the-line steak and seafood house. I promise you probably won’t find a better snapper on the island.
We were about to order another dessert we were curious about but then our amazing server, Jhenie, showed us their featured “sweet cup” What is that? It’s basically a Sunday with a chunk of pie wedged in there. The ice cream was so rich it was nostalgic for us. Talk about being a kid again. Dinner was just as impressive and again a bittersweet experience as it was our last night.
I highly encourage a visit even if you want to pull up to the bar. This was def our top three visited restaurants. Please support them at all cost please support this restaurant so we can continue to thrive.

Read moreThe pdf of the menu slowly popped up on my laptop during the Pathology lectures as visions of lunch slowly over took the subject being discussed. I was shocked to see Keralean chicken curry as a part of the lunch menu. I was born in the southern Indian state of Kerala and while I grew up elsewhere, my mother's cooking still holds the purse strings of my hearts appetite. I emailed Ms. Piper and lo behold the email returned promptly. It was a hot day when I arrived for lunch but they have plenty of shade and a very cool dining room overlooking the pool. The menu is inspired by famous female personalities and there is an aura of feminine energy in everything the restaurant does. This leads to a very tranquil and cozy atmosphere and this is all just describing the ambience. I was pleasantly surprised that the Keralean chicken curry took me back years to my grand mother's cooking in Kerala where I used to visit for summer holidays. Now the demonym should be Keralite but I really didn't care as I munched through succulent, moist chicken breast piece with a Thai mango salad. Going to medical school on a Caribbean island is a journey in of itself and comes with a lot of change and it leaves hardly any time for enjoying the beautiful island that is Grand Cayman. It certainly does not leave any time to cook the dishes you loved growing up as a child. My server and bartender, a kind and intelligent woman Angie T from Bogota kept the conversation going despite having other customers and I learned a lot about Bogota. This is exactly what a great lunch place should be- light, healthy dishes, good conversation and a relaxing environment before heading back to the hassles of the day. So for a trip back to my exotic summer vacation spot on a beautiful island that is exotic, I am grateful to Ms Pipers who by the way is the wonderful concept of the persona of the philosophy governing the restaurant- celebrating and empowering women. Please note, the dish was not as spicy as it should be back in Kerala but that is a good thing because not everybody wants a super spicy dish and flavorful is what I would aptly use to describe the dish. One particular thing I noted was that I bit into a cardamom pod and that made me realize, they are not using some pre-made mix as most restaurants do but real spices the way spices were meant to be used in a dish simmering with a tropical freshness and bursting...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hampton which is where Ms Pipers is located(apparently it’s not part of the hotel, just in partnership), and had heard lots of praise, from people and travel magazines (Conde Nast did a write up), so we were very excited to try this place out. The vibe is exactly as stated, 70’s boho beach style, think, hipster mom style. The space is set poolside the Hampton secluded pool surrounded by palm trees, tiki wood, and studded with 70’s style travel items and beach hats. The decor here was really fun, it gave a great relaxed beach vibe, a place to relax and unwind, not as go go go as the big hotel restaurants. The paper menu was very cute, stapled onto pages of a vintage style pamphlet. The food- it was good, a small menu influenced by the Argentinian chef with items like wood fired empanadas, proveleta, and dish of melted provolone cheese with bright tomato sauce and perfectly crispy but chewy focaccia sticks. There is also a nice selection of seafood, a burger and chicken schnitzel, which is what we got. It was described as a sharing dish, which if you have apps it could be, but it was 2 lightly breaded 4oz chicken cutlets with arugula and fries with a tasty creamy lemon sauce. The drinks were fun inventive mixes that made you feel fancy, but relaxed. Most are just riffs on classic cocktails but they are executed with style and precision. The staff was very kind, attentive and thoughtful, everyone from the maitre d’ to our server and food runners are all happy, smiling and caring. Giving it 4 stars because while everything was tasty, it was a very expensive meal for 1 app, 1 main and 2 drinks, if it was cheaper we would’ve stayed more but the cayman prices added up quickly. Including 16% gratuity plus a little extra we added on it...
