CasaValdés — Restaurant in Puerto Varas

I just walked out of this restaurant after only having two appetizers with my wife. I’ve never experience a more rude staff at any restaurant in the world. We were immediately profiled for being the only customers under 65 and placed at an awful table when the entire restaurant was empty aside from 3 groups. We asked to change and we were denied because of “reservations”, an hour later and the table was still open and another party asked to be moved and they were eagerly accommodated.

We went 20 minutes after all our appetizers were finished without someone bussing our table. The waitress asked us to order 3 times without removing the plate of empty oyster shells, clearly trying to rush us. When we proceeded to order, with the empty plates still on the table, we were informed they didn’t have the fish we chose. I attempted to order 2 additional plates they also did not have. Overpriced due to its riverside location.

Beef was overcooked, and prawns were not fresh. The waiter doesn’t speak any English, similar to another reviewer, I experienced something similar. They took the wrong order and charged more. Dishes were served very slow too.

Wouldn’t recommend unless you don’t care about what you get for what you pay. There are way nicer options 200m away like Humedal etc. We tried these places for dinner and enjoyed it way more.

Service staff are Arrogant, esp the tall aged guy that looks like the manager at entrance, I Guess the attitude originated from their previous popularity. Typical “I’m so popular why I need to serve you” attitude that we’ve experienced quite a few...

Booked a table for two but arrived with a third friend. Huge confusion and completely threw the lady who greeted us. After a five minute debate with the manager they did incredibly well, showed initiative and added a third place setting to our table!! I should point out that we arrived shortly after they opened for lunch and only one other table was occupied. When we left there were three other tables occupied.

After that we had a wonderful lunch. Great food, fresh fish and lovely steamed vegetables. Service was fine, drinks as ordered came promptly. Not the cheapest place you'll find but for the quality of the food and the cooking I think we had good value for money. I'd...
