Café del Poeta — Restaurant in Valparaíso

A friend recommended this place because of their lucuma meringue cake, and immediately it became my go-to place during my Valparaiso stay. Not only did they have cold chocolate milk, which my little girl loves but unfortunately not many restaurants had it available. They also have the most attentive and friendly staff and manager, with amazing attention to detail and quality. On one of the days I went in, the manager walked by and noticed something with my dish, and even though I had not complained, since I thought the food was pretty good, the waitress came to me and advised me that I would be going home with a new dish instead of my leftovers! I had the dish for dinner and it was better than the first one, I can honestly say I've never had that experience before, at any other restaurant in any country I have been to. I will absolutely be returning to this wonderful gem when I visit Chile again. -The best things in life are the people we love, the places we've been, and the memories we've made...

The only good part about it: it looks nice inside, the staff was friendly.

But all in all a bad, annoying experience. Would rather stay hungry than come back and would never recommend! The food was BAD. The toast was SUPER dry. The omelette was covered everywhere with a huuuge load of dry oregano or some other dry green seasoning which made the whole omelette not enjoyable. The omelette also lacked 2 ingedients. We ordered 3 drinks and got only 2, they forgot to bring one.

Also the wait was like FOREVER...there were not that many people, and the kitchen took way too long to bring the food. Then the food was not even delicious and way too overpriced for what it was.

Do not waste your time and money ! Flavourless food, I ordered a chicken avocado sandwich, the chicken was still frozen , the avocado was ripe, and it had a funny taste ( like they rinse the avocado with soap before sending it out). There is no knowledge of hospitality, prices are really high compared to the quality. Service was horrible, I order a tea pot of English breakfast, after having the first sip the tea was cold and too strong for my taste, I order another pot of water to water it out a little bit and I was told that I needed to pay for an extra pot of tea just to bring me hot water ( warm water to be honest) rude staff, bad service.
