Casa Violeta Limon might look charming in the pictures but it is by far the worst accommodation I have ever stayed at. I have traveled all over the world staying in budget accommodation, including shared rooms in people's apartments. I have included some pictures so that you can see that I am not exaggerating. The bathroom shower, roof and floor had black mold all over, the mirror is so high over the sink that you can't see yourself in it. I'm 5'4 and could only see the tip of my head. There is a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor that overflowed with sewage TWICE during our 2 night stay! The pieces of cloth that they hang over the windows which are supposed to be curtains are gray instead of white from being so dirty, the shades on the lamps are all stained. The kitchen is the same, the stove, the dish rack, the sink and tap were so filthy you would not want to even touch them let alone cook in there. On the single bed in one of the bedrooms, the boards holding the mattress are sticking out so if you were to wake up and forget they were there you would scratch your leg pretty bad. Not to mention the location is pretty sketchy, they told us not to walk around that area of town after dark. Also the receptionist who received us was very unfriendly!!! The only positive things about the apartment we stayed in was that it's spacious, the bedding was clean and the internet worked. I would not recommend anyone...
Read moreFabulous location close to prime dining; lots of street art. Tour nearby Cemetery 3! The guard gave us an impromptu tour down into the catacombs!||This is an apartment, not a hotel, so there is no cleaning service or meals. They do provide a bath towel for each guest that can be refreshed. They also provide a laundry service for a fee. The kitchen is furnished, so you can stay economically if you want to cook for yourself. We enjoyed our stay because the location is fantastic--in the middle of a lively part of Valparaiso, and close to the Reina Victoria ascensor that takes you up to the top of Cerro Concepcion, with its fabulous shops and restaurants. This is exactly the experience we were looking for--I'm very glad we were right in the middle of the action! The unit is charming. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was fully furnished. The staff is helpful. A few negatives: 1) the kitchen and bathroom floors were quite grimy. Otherwise the unit was clean. 2) The sheer curtains and noisy streets meant that I slept with earplugs and face mask. 3) There is no parking provided, so if you drive, you will need to find on-street parking or park in a city ramp several blocks away. 4)As I said, this is an apartment, so no maid service, no...
Read moreWe recently stayed at this hostel. The infrastructure is very nice, the rooms were comfortable, there was a very well-equipped kitchen, a lot of space. HOWEVER : the staff was really unfriendly with us, very cold, never giving us a smile. On the doors of the rooms, there is a list of rules. One of them is that visitors are welcome in the common parts, as long as they leave before 22:45. This made us very glad, since we had friends volunteering in Valparaiso. We thus invited them to cook a meal with us at the hostel, where we were the only ones staying, so this wouldn't have bothered any other guests. We checked with the reception, just to make sure we were indeed abiding by the rules. They immediately told us no, made no effort to explain why they were telling us no, even though it was clearly written in the rules. They even responded looking down on us for not being able to perfectly speak Spanish. We were super disappointed, as we had already bought groceries, and our friends had to go back to where they were staying. The next day, we left. So to sum up, this hostel has a lot of potential, but the staff is very unpleasant and they do not respect...
