Located inside the very traditional hutong. It is a traditional Beijing Shi He Yuan building, the entrance itself is very historical. Once entered, there is a traditional fire pit to grill the Peking duck. They are grilled with wood. And there are many photos of the rich and famous VIP visited the restaurant. For persons of four, they recommend that we try their set meals for about RMB500. It was an excellent choice. It came with a whole duck with two cooking styles, grilled and deep fried. And there was a table full of side dishes, mainly made from different parts of the duck. The grilled duck was one of the best we have ever tested in Beijing. The duck skin and meat wrapped with their unique sauce tasted excellent. The deep fried duck (which is the remaining part after serving the skin and meat) was also very crispy and tasty. Food quality is really excellent, the only short fall is their environment might not be favourable for some as it is an old Shi He Yuan building and not that tidy compared to other famous Peking duck restaurants. But, it is a unique selling point for me and I was so excited to be able to dine in such a traditional environment with excellent food. The wash room is located outside and it is a public toilet. This is the area where the ordinary Beijing people live, and you can have a feel of the ordinary Beijing life. It is indeed a very memorable dining experience for me and I will definitely come back again during my next trip to Beijing.

Very nice place to eat roast ducks 🦆. I went there at 11:30am and there was a queue. I had to wait about 30 min to be able to have a seat. During this waiting, you can have a look to the walls with pictures of celebrities who went there. I shared a round table with 2 other groups. It's a way for them to optimize and a way for us to reduce the waiting time. The menu is in chinese and english with some pictures. I ordered a roast duck in 1 way with pancake, cucumber and onions (240 元). For 1 person, it's too much in terms of quantity. The duck was roasted perfectly. The meat was juicy and tasty with the grease and the crispy skin. No doubt, this course was amazing. However, it's fat but it's normal because the duck is cooked as it is and then cut in pieces almost in front of you. Each piece was skin, greased and meat. No additional oil or butter. This combination with the sauce and cucumber gave a fresh and tasty feeling. To be honest, i didn't take dinner because one duck eaten for lunch gave enough energy for the rest of the day :) I highly recommend this place.

I was staying in a hotel quite nearby, so when I went to the concierge to get help making a table reservation for another famous roast duck chain, the staff actually eagerly recommended this place instead. I was sold when I was told that the restaurant was situated in a traditional house, and the prices was a lot more wallet friendly than the other place i wanted. The decor of Li Qun is definitely very different from what I could have imagined. If you go about in Beijing, especially on a hutong tour, the restaurant is situated in one of those buildings! I found it to be really cool since it is so different, and gives a certain homely feel. Staff were nice, friendly and attentive, and the menu had English, so it helps tremendously. Food wise, I think the hotel staff severely oversold it, and raised the bar way too high, so it didn't quite meet the expectations. Not that it is not nice, just not great enough to match how it was portrayed. That being said, I would not mind going back, especially if with people that have not visited before.

Was looking for place, where we can try a Real taste of peking duck. Didn’t want to spent a lot money in 5* exclusive restaurants, so choose $$ filter and found this place. First look - i thought that we did a mistake and we enter from kitchen side, but in fact it was the main entrance with a chief who was cooking duck’s in real wooden-fire stone oven. All place arranged in this style - all spaces was visible from dining space. Even dishwasher room. Nobody cares here for interior designs. But It’s good! They’re more focused on food that they gives us. Duck was PEERFECT! Now i can say, that i’ve tried Real Roasted Peking Duck. Full set with whole Duck, drinks and some apetizers - 331CNY. Worth to spent.

I got hooked on my first trip to Beijing and had to come back again. Liqun is often listed as a top 10 Peking Duck restaurant in Beijing according to various Chinese websites, and rightfully so. Founded in 1864 and located in a residential area, it gives a local, authentic type of experience. In the hall to the dining area, you pass a the chef who is roasting all of the ducks in a brick oven. The smell is amazing. The duck is flavorful, rich and oily. They have 3 different sets to choose from, we got the one that included fried duck as well. It feeds 2 very well, it's almost too much. We ordered a couple more dishes and overate. Stick with the duck, you can’t go wrong.

Been here a few times over the past 6 years. Food has been very good still, the duck is toasted wel, non-oily and the flat pancakes to wrap the duck skin with are very well made and paper thin. Service can be improved a tad, the place remains hidden in the alleyways, but I like its exclusivity. Nothing better than to walk off the dinner along Tian An Men Square a short distance away in the cold of winter and marvel at the beautiful night scene of the entrance to the Palace Museum.
