This restaurant easily deserves 5 stars and beyond, for their food, their service, and finally their atmosphere. Their decor is actually some of the best decor I've witnessed at a restaurant, with a very unique setup that is worth taking photos of at multiple areas within the restaurant. The service was probably the best I've ever experienced, as the team went above and beyond in custom ordering a small cake for my friend's birthday and actually having it specifically made for our party of 7 guests, free of charge. Again, probably one of the best birthday cakes I've had in my life. This was in addition to the flawless service all night. And the Portuguese food itself had various highlights, with some dishes far outperforming how much they costed, and many of them visually appealing and unique in presentation without compromising taste. Mesa is indeed Avant Garde, and despite not having been to many other restaurants within Macau, I'd confidently argue it probably has few peers...

I visited Mesa bar a few weeks earlier and was very impressed (as I was with the Macau cocktail bar scene overall). Came back tonight with my wife for dinner and whilst the food was excellent (we had the 6 course tasting menu), the hospitality was the real standout. Jacques was an exceptional host - warm, friendly, anticipating needs but never overbearing. His colleagues were all equally fantastic.

The wine list too is incredible - 90+ pages, fantastic variety, and (IMO) decent prices for a restaurant of this level!

We had a few drinks at the bar afterwards where the equally-hospitable Frederick was just awesome. Knowledgeable, warm, friendly. It goes without saying, but the drinks were excellent.
