I've stayed in MGM Las Vegas before but this brand new MGM Cotai definitely is 10x better. First off, the hotel smells very nice. My 4 y/o daughter even asked me to inquire if they sell their fragrance. Next you'll be amazed by the Spectacle at the atrium connected to the main lobby. It's basically a massive 25-screen LED array spanning the atrium's 900-meter parameter. So 360 degree of awesomeness. We are here end of November so the theme is Christmas instead of their regular digital arts by worlds renowned artists. In the daytime, it didn't feel as wow but at night, it was amazing! Definitely spend at least 10 minutes to soak it all in. However I still like the Aquarium at MGM Macau better. Unfortunately MGM Theatre is still not opened yet during our stay :(
If I have to mention the cons, it is because the room wasn't ready when we arrived at 1.30pm (I know, I know, check in time is supposed to be 3pm) and when we came back at 3.30pm, there's only 1 room available so we can't pick our floor of preference or its proximity to the elevator. When we arrived on our floor, we were greeted by a couple of friendly staff (not sure if they're from housekeeping because he wasn't doing the cleaning). I have to give a shout out to ShaoWei from 3rd floor who helps us with our luggage once he saw us juggling between 2 kids and 3 bags, he then dropped off 2 extra bath towels & slippers knowing that the room only comes with 2 (would be nice if there are more towels by default), and when I asked for extra laundry bag and bubble bath gel for kiddos which mgm unfortunately doesn't carry, he offered bath salts for mommy instead and gave me extra shopping bags together with the laundry bag. After we settle down around 5pm, the door bell rings and turned out it's complimentary dessert delivery for kiddos & they even gave us a stuffed lion! What a nice surprise. But it doesn't end here. When we came back from dinner, our room was made up & towels were refreshed! Turned out they do afternoon turndown service which is my absolute favorite. Unfortunately they didn't refill the minibar which is supposed to be free and unlimited (I think).
I love that everything in the room can be controlled via mgm smartphone-like remote. It's so smart that it takes a while to figure what the buttons are for. The bathroom wall can also be changed to clear glass so you can watch TV while you are soaking in the bath tub. However, don't think there're speakers in the bathroom (there's volume button but it doesn't do anything). I also wish the toilet seat has bidet.
The toiletries box is pretty comprehensive. I love that they provide hair tie together with the shower cap. The only thing missing is vanity kit. Their comb is somehow wooden?
All in all, I highly recommend staying here, especially when they have free shuttles to many places, including the eat street rua de Cunha. Unfortunately they don't have exact time schedule yet. When we tried taking the shuttle, we missed it by 1 minute and was told to wait 20min. I hopped onto taxi right away since I was already hangry. Mgm Macau somehow has their schedule coming to mgm Cotai tho. Hope they'll have exact time soon.
The best part of our stay is when I told them on our last day that we're celebrating my daughter's bday for this trip and see if they have any special treats for her. They instantly offer bday cake which will be delivered in the afternoon. Since I saw other reviewer mentioned that they will decorate the room with balloons and stuff as part of the bday treat, I asked if I can have a couple of balloons together with the cake. They said usually decoration will need to be arrange at least a week before but they'll see what they can do. Turned out they did the whole "Happy Birthday" balloons and daughter was jumping with joy when she arrived in the room. She kept asking if we could stay here 🤣 Thanks again MGM Cotai for the...
