Wynn Palace — Hotel in Cotai Landfill Zone

Wynn Palace is certainly a remarkable place - with excellent restaurants, shopping and the fountains with cable cars are a must see. The casino is modern and serves drinks and snacks. Now you might ask, why I rate the casino with 1 star? Well the casino security, obviously either cross negligent without checking what they do proper, or through in the moment unclear circuumstances, were responsible for the imprisonment of my life partner, private secretary and friend. As we wanted to leave Macau - immigration held my friend following a police request for an arrest warrant by Wynn Palace security. He had been accused of some kind of theft and may be other things - all this is still a mistery. In a 24 hours police investigation my partner went literally through hell. All we know so far is that a lady, who played in the casino, claimed she had left money in a slot machine and my friend would have taken it, illegally, in her absence. Well the slot machine was NOT reserved - not electronically through the reservation button, not through a casino team member, not through any visible personal equipment and not through a membercard. I have been not far away and played there too and we play together in casinos for years, so I can confirm, all was done as always, correct. My partner and me - we have our own business and money and are customers of Wynn for several years and members of the Casino group for several years, nobody of us needs to steal anything. He put his own ticket in - not checking if there was money left and started playing - as mainly the money was to great parts gone, when he finished after a while - the rest cashed out. The police investigation led to a release of my friend after 24 hours - he had done obviously nothing wrong. Nevertheless the immigration put a travel ban on him for 3 years. Why?? A mystery! My friends English is not the best and no paperwork has been provided to him or me of the police or the immigration and not of anybody else. Our protest letter to the headquarters of Wynn in the United States led to "an investigation in the matter", as the assistant director of Wynn Macau has told us in electronic writings - we await a result shortly. Let me tell you that this Casino could be rated 5 stars and I loved it - but through happenings like that, they lost me, my friend and several of my business partners and our families as customers. We are no high rollers, but visited Macau 5 times a year. This is now over, as of the incredible happenings. May be, if the Wynn team is able to solve the of their security created matter, apropriate, with the bitter necessary apology - they can be forgiven and trust can be restored. In that case my review will be changed to the better. But now it has to be seen as a warning. As a warning that some people have nearly destroyed a persons life, who now suffers. I rank this hotel 4 despite the hiccups we had. We checked in and the 1st room (deluxe king) had some residue cigarette smell even though it was a non smoking room. Ada/Ida the duty manager expeditiously resolve the issue by giving us an upgrade to a suite facing the fountain. She even found out my wife's birthday was just a day ago. So she arranged for a wonderful fruit platter for us (she was going to offer us a cake but we pleaded to say we had too much cakes already, some fruits would be better appreciated)

We had dinner at the one michelin star Chef Tam. Food and atmosphere was fine until the end when there was some misunderstanding . Karen the duty manager was made aware of it and she took the trouble to see me to understand the situation better, explained to me what happened and where they could have done better. This is good example of excellent service recovery.

On the whole, while the hotel decor is not exactly what I prefered (I am biased towards more subdued and understated decor ), but I respect that that is only my personal views and can understand why others who find it dramatic and luxurious.

The hotel is certainly well maintained despite the crowd. Everything works, all facilities are clean and tidy. Breakfast was generous with a great view of the lake.

Room and housekeeping service was responsive. A call for service is picked up within 3 rings.

Hotel has a good range of boutique.

As for location. Its near to the Cotai strip. So within easy reach to other mega resorts around that area including city of dreams, venetian and grand Lisboa. The LRT station is right in front of the hotel. And with you can travel around around the Cotai strip. And you can take the LRT to the charming Old Taipa and the food street. Instead of relying on the challenging taxis service during peak hours.

My generally impression is the entire staff do try their best. However the more rank and file ones may lack experience. Whereas the senior level ones like Ada and Karen are at the top of their game.

Would I recommend others to stay? I would say yes if you enjoy an air of festivity, liveliness and with it, the crowd. If you appreciate decor that are grandiose and overtly luxurious. And you want a centre place to conveniently explore the...
