Have been drinking at Coffeelin Happy Valley for a while now, the service seems to get worse and worse…
Entered Coffeelin at 1pm, not busy at all, there were several seats and a table available.
Server (young lady) immediately and brashly told us from the bar area that we needed to order at the bar, she wasn’t coming out to take our order. That’s fine as a policy but not very pleasant as a greeting.
We made our orders at the bar which she seemed to take begrudgingly. I’m not sure why they’re reluctant for business considering the coffee store wasn’t busy. It should be peak business time might I add.
We were served our coffee and began to look around. We noticed people around us had already finished their coffees and were just sitting around. Not once did the servers come out to collect the mugs / offer them another coffee / offer them food (they serve decent pasta as lunch). No one was eating at all. However, behind the bar were 4-5 people chatting / on their phones. The staff seem disinterested in serving customers.
2 groups of people came by Coffeelin whilst we were there, both of them seemed dissuaded by the lack of service and left.
We often go to places like Coffeelin for the experience and atmosphere rather than just the coffee itself. Something is very off if this is the experience that customers get.
Go to Reaction Coffee / NOOT if you want good coffee and good service. You deserve it.
On another note, I wonder if the owner knows how lacking their staff are and how that affects business. I can see the management wants to expand with food and alcoholic drinks 🍸 on the menu, and a large area in the back for more people to sit in. However, if the service is poor, the food / drinks aren’t being recommended and the back room isn’t being used, then this is all going to waste… So in summary, management please get service up to par to match the lovely...
Read moreI can't say enough great things about Coffeelin! I've been a loyal customer for two and a half years, almost visiting every day, and it has truly become my second home. The coffee here is simply outstanding—rich, flavorful, and expertly crafted. But what keeps me coming back isn’t just the coffee; it’s the incredible hospitality that makes every visit special.
The staff at Coffeelin are nothing short of amazing. They are incredibly knowledgeable about coffee and always eager to share their expertise, making it a great place to learn about different brews and blends. I’ve tried all their delicious pastas, and I can honestly say they’re all worth a try. My little two-year-old even insists on visiting and ordering for herself instead of me—now that’s a testament to how good the food is!
I must give a shout-out to the attentive staff, especially Alice, Eva, and Puiman, who always greet me with a smile and make sure I have everything I need. The kitchen staff is equally attentive, frequently checking in on how the food was and if I need any condiments.
The atmosphere is a perfect escape from the bustling streets of Hong Kong. The space is well-maintained, clean, and has a vibe that is both inviting and relaxing, even when it gets busy. Now I understand why this place is so popular!
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by Coffeelin. You’ll leave with a delicious cup of coffee and a warm feeling from the wonderful hospitality. It’s a gem in...
Read moreThis is a cute little spot. Aesthetically, it's a nicely designed space with high ceilings, big windows and comfortable seating. But this would all be for naught if the coffee wasn't good. Thankfully, the young staff seems to have been trained well in the use of the big Italian espresso machine that sits prominently on top of the bar. I had a double espresso, served in a beautiful, understated, slate grey cup and saucer. For me, the perfect cup of espresso has a thin, foamy "head" on top. This is achieved, I've been told, by the right balance of the heat of the water, the fineness and density of the grounds and the pressure exerted by the machine. There have only been a handful of coffee shops in Hong Kong that can do this. Coffelin in Happy Valley is now one of them. Ok, now for the one downside. This place gets crowded very quickly. It's a new cafe that's quickly becoming trendy. There was a queue outside the door on Sunday afternoon. A staff member was nice enough to bring out a couple of chairs for us to sit in outside. Coffeelin welcomes pets and kids in this Happy Valley location. That makes for a nice atmosphere. The owner Lucas and the manager Gibson introduced themselves to us when we arrived, making us feel very welcome. The staff is also very polite and friendly. I predict the crowds will die down a bit once the novelty wears off. Definitely...
