Weekend noon is busy time for the restaurant, we gotta wait for a while til we got seated.
The restaurant is clean and neat with modern design. Though it is small but not too packed at all.
I tried the raw beef pho $ 128which is excellent!
The raw beef are angus beef which is very tender and soft, it is not too lean, with a bit of beef fat, rich in taste, it is yummy! The broth is clear and rich in taste, the taste is natural bone broth flavor, it doesn’t have msg which I don’t feel thirsty. The pho is very soft and thin, it is so smooth and taste like fresh made.
My hubby ordered mixed beef pho $158 , it is good too, it is served with assorted beef like raw beef, beef brisket, beef balls .. etc. The ingredients are standard quality, while the raw beef is outstanding.
The prawn cake $50 is highly recommended! It is homemade style with lots of real prawn meat in it! It is so bouncy and rich in shrimp flavor, with aid of Thai style sauce, a bit sour and spiciness, yummy!
The iced Vietnam drip coffee is really good! I The coffee got a mild flavor which is not bitter nor sour, it is rich, smooth and lightly sweetened. Highly recommended!
The homemade red bean cake is good! It is so soft and rich in natural red bean flavor, it is lightly sweetened, together with the coconut milk, what a...
Read moreWent there for lunch on April 9 because my friend suggested that it’s supposedly the best pho in Hong Kong. I ordered the locomotive pho or whatever it’s called because there is a bit of everything.
First impression: the soup was so little just enough to submerge the vermicelli and the meat.
After tasting the soup, while surely tasty, but rather oily.
I then dumped in the bean sprouts and basil leaves. The waitress couldn’t wait and took away the lime wedge I was about to proceed. Interesting, I thought, don’t they do that near the end of your meal?
Beef slices were good and beefy. Full of flavors.
Beef balls were greasy and you can feel your mouth cavity covered by oil.
The moment when I took a bite on the third piece of the beef balls, my teeth were cockblocked by a huge chunk of sand. My tongue can literally count the individual sand particles among the half chewed beef ball. Flabbergasted, I tried to spit out part of the mushy beef mix, but apparently my tongue is very adept in mixing sand and meat. I spit out more but there was still sand in my mouth.
Being a Vietnamese restaurant and there’s no summer rolls? Hmmm sketchy.
Is this the best pho in HK? I can’t say. For the price they are charging and the quality of the food,...
Read moreThe quality of the pho and soup at the restaurant was exceptional; however, there were some shortcomings. Despite selecting the regular amount of noodles on the order form, it appeared that we had actually selected the small portion size. It is possible that this is a ploy to encourage customers to order additional side dishes, but this cannot be assumed. Furthermore, even with the small amount of noodles, the cost of each bowl is quite steep relative to the quantity provided, at $135 per bowl.
Leaving aside the matter of the food, which is still highly recommended, the service was average at best. For example, while I was eating my pho, the waitress took the napkin that had been provided for me to wipe my mouth and began using it to clean the table. It should be common sense not to remove an item that a customer has not yet finished using. This brings me to my next point: the same waitress who took my napkin also removed my bowl of pho, even though it still contained some vegetables at the bottom. She did not inquire as to whether I had finished my meal, which was disappointing.
Although the food was somewhat delicious, the service can...
