Katsuisen (Kennedy Town) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

I have always heard food things about this place, so I decided to give it a try. If I had only got sushi I would have given it 4 stars, however the starters and grill items were quite disappointing so I had to give 3 stars.

The truffle and yuzu dressing didn’t quite go, and the chicken wings were so tiny that they were almost meatless. The softshell crab maki roll had too much rice that it felt like I was just eating balls of rice.

Service wasn’t great as well. We ordered prawn sashimi, but were given something else. When we asked about it , they insisted that it was what we ordered even it showed on our ordering that we didn’t, and then we were told prawns were out of stock once they realised their mistake.

Unfortunately I got sick after eating here. The food definitely not the freshest I’ve had as I’m quite picky about seafood and good quality of sushi place. I didn’t have a high expectation when I walked, but it does seem like a good place for this HKU neighborhood for hangout or quick catch up. Service was good here, I’m a bit concerned about the food quality though. Maybe it was just a off night for me. But I don’t think I will go back nor recommend...

Great value little spot in between Shek Tong Tsui and Kennedy Town. Worth going for their sukiyaki and (when they have it) the affordable Hokkaido sea urchin sushi. Otherwise, all the basics are covered at very affordable prices. Great option for those travelling and staying at Hotel Jen just across the road. Make sure to book ahead as it’s...
