TOP Thai restaurant from this year for sure with super nice service and front-row harbor vistas!

〘 Yum Mamueng Poo Nim - Green Mango Salad with Fried Soft Shell Crab 〙HKD128 青芒果軟殼蟹沙律 🏆 This appetiser will leave you absolutely ravenous with a a masterful interplay of textures featuring shredded green mango, sprouts and cucumber, enlivened by a tangy vinaigrette, provides a vibrant base for the impeccably fried soft-shell crab.

〘 Pla Meuk Yang - Thai Style Grilled Squid with Spicy Fish Sauce 〙HKD128
原隻炭燒魷魚 Tender, expertly grilled squid that yields just the right resistance without succumbing to chewiness!

〘 Sate Ruam Mit - Assorted Grilled Satay Skewers with Chicken, Pork, Beef Served with Peanut Sauce 〙HKD138
串燒沙爹(雞肉/ 牛肉/豬肉)(六串)(配花生醬) A standout is the tender chicken, its edges kissed with a delicate char, paired impeccably with a nutty, thick peanut sauce.

〘 Kari Kanum Pwang Nuae Poo - Thai Style Yellow Curry Crab Meat with Garlic Bread 〙HKD198 泰式黃咖喱蟹肉配蒜蓉麵包 🏆 Highest value for money: shell-free crab meat luxuriating in a lusciously mild yellow curry, rich with aromatic depth and served up with crisp garlic bread!

〘 Pad Pak Bong Malajian - Fried Morning Glory in Belacan Sauce 〙HKD98 馬拉盞通菜 Stir-fried in pungent sauce balanced by smoky wok hei. Vibrant, garlicky, and subtly spicy, it’s a quintessential Thai veggie dish.

〘 Pad Thai Goong - Thai Style Stir Fried Flat Noodles with Shrimp 〙HKD158 泰式蝦河粉 Lightly chewy, al dente noodles stir-fried with succulent shrimp and topped with crushed peanuts and served with chilli flakes for personalized heat!

〘 Watermelon Beach 〙HKD65 〘 Vanilla Milkshake 〙HKD48

Mint and basil serves mainly Thai dishes with a few other dishes from the Southeast Asian region such as Vietnamese and Indonesian. The food here is pretty good. This is the only South East Asian restaurant in the area and is one of the better restaurants on the Sai wan ho promenade. My rating is based on:

Food: 4 stars Service: 2 stars Environment: 3 stars Recommendations: Gui yang roasted chicken, chicken salad, pla yang (fish with chili dressing)

The fried rice and noodle dishes here are also pretty good. My favorite dish here is the gui yang. The way it’s prepared is quite authentic and reminiscent of versions I have had in Thailand.

The service here is really hit or miss and the main reason I wouldn’t rate this place higher. They do have a mandatory service charge so my expectations is to have decent service. Decent service for me is explaining the menu, a proper greeting, checking in if I need anything. I don’t get that consistently here and therefore say the service is subpar.

Usually I don’t proactively go back to places I rate rate 3 stars. However, it’s a five minute walk from my flat and the food is good so I do come here when I don’t want to go too...

The service and atmosphere were good. The front wall was slided away to merge entire limited-size dining room with the sidewalk. The street was next to the water front. Although there were cars parked on street, I could still enjoy the high-rise building lights on the other side of the eastern Victoria Harbour. This is a complement.

Given the price I spent, I expected better food quality. Instead, all dishes were just average. Not bad, but no nice word worth giving as well. Our final bill represented our need to order 2 entrée per person. I initially felt of my friend ordering too much. But, turned out barely enough to fill my average stomach. I also felt unusually dry mouth shortly after the meal, which was unusual for me. This was usually indication of could-be...

Both my friend and I enjoyed the creamy texture green curry chicken and the garlic bread along. Though this restaurant is located in Soho East, we've enjoyed the mocktails as much as other customers who weree enjoying champagne and cocktails with that refreshing touch to stimulate our taste buds after a hectic day at work. Though most dishes we ordered tend to be Thai style, I believe that the crab rolls were the Viet style dish we've ordered and I enjoyed the mustard dressing cream as a sauce of matching the rice rolls and the crunchy crabs. Last but not the least, egg custards on top of the black sticky rice were ever so tempting since custard had always been my favourite dessert during my UK boarding school life.
