Black Sugar Coffee & Lifestyle — Restaurant in Hong Kong

Been a repeated customer until now - but unfortunately service and food has deteriorated in recent months to the extent I would look elsewhere from now on.

To be fair, food was ok when it eventually arrives and albeit smaller portion size perhaps due to raising cost.

But biggest let-down has been its chaotic service where they can made you wait for 30min while you order is served to a random table that just arrived and a simple cold brew would sit at the counter waiting to be served. 🤦🏻🤦🏻.

To add insult to injury, when asked about the order, the waitress simply brushed it off as the kitchen was busy and never even acknowledge their mistake or apologize - and same experience shared by the next table so barely unique or exceptional.

Not what I would expect for a cafe at this price point so would recommend avoiding and look elsewhere....

Black Sugar is a local coffee shop that has opened up a handful of branches around the city in recent years including this spot just off Hung Hom Road at Whampoa Garden Phase III. They have a fair sized indoor seating area with relaxed environs. Opening hours are 9am to 6pm daily.

We stopped by here recently and enjoyed their Kyoto Shiba and Coffee highball drinks the signature coffee list, both coffees were nicely mixed by the baristas and tasted pretty good.

Black Sugar branches also do good traditional coffees. I like their espresso based and white coffees just fine. They offer some good light bites, we like their desserts, they complement their coffee...

STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAFE!!! Horrible experience!!!!

I went with my friend and my 1.5 year old baby, after ordered our coffee and apple juice, my baby was eating a banana in her stroller. Staff came over said “呢度唔准帶外來食品” (no outside food allowed)!! Me and my friend were shocked and said “it’s for the baby and we leave it very tidy”. He just walked away.

Point 1: the coffee shop do not sell banana and we ordered food as all other customer does. Point 2: we went to the coffee shop during NON PEAK hour.

Such unfriendly staff, it doesn’t matter whether coffee is good/ bad.

Btw, 96 hkd for one americano and apple...
