Heartless Policies Over Common Decency: Families, Steer Clear! (Updated at bottom)
My family’s experience at this ice cream shop this evening was nothing short of appalling—a masterclass in how NOT to treat customers, especially those with young children. What should have been a simple treat for my daughters (10 and 3) turned into a lesson in bureaucratic cruelty.
Prioritizing Rules Over Humanity: Upon entering, my exhausted wife—visibly struggling to hold our overtired 3-year-old—was denied a seat until we ordered. The manager coldly enforced this “policy,” despite the café being nearly empty. A compassionate waitress finally intervened, but the manager’s muttered remark to a colleague (“We didn’t make an exception for a senior last week”) revealed a staggering lack of empathy. Since when does a business brag about denying basic kindness to “both” seniors and struggling parents?
Absurd Seating Extortion: When ordering, we were told our girls couldn’t share a single bowl at a table unless my wife and I stood—despite open seating. We weren’t asking for freebies; we just wanted our family to sit together for 10 minutes. The manager’s rigid “two bowls = two tables” rule defied logic and compassion. We left without ice cream, two children in tears, and a clear message: This establishment cares more about enforcing arbitrary rules than serving human beings.
If you’re a hipster on a date, maybe this place works. But families? Save yourselves the frustration. A business that values policies over people—and openly scoffs at kindness—doesn’t deserve your time, tears, or money.
UPDATE. The owner JC reached out to me and was very professional outlining his dissatisfaction and some direct steps he would be taking at the shop and also some kind offers for my children. I...
Read moreSnack Baby Gelato & Drinks: A Hidden Gem for Gelato Lovers I recently visited Snack Baby Gelato & Drinks and was thoroughly impressed by my experience. The shop stands out for several reasons that make it worth a visit for any ice cream enthusiast. The gelato is remarkably fresh, with vibrant flavors that suggest they're made in small batches with quality ingredients. Each scoop had that perfect creamy consistency that distinguishes authentic gelato from regular ice cream. What enhanced the experience was the staff - not only nice and approachable but genuinely knowledgeable about their products. When I asked about the ingredients and preparation methods, they provided detailed information about each flavor, showing real passion for their craft. One of the best aspects is their generous serving policy. They allow customers to choose three different flavors in a single cup without additional charges, giving you the chance to explore their diverse menu without commitment to just one flavor. The shop itself deserves mention too. Unlike many dessert spots that prioritize takeaway, Snack Baby offers a spacious and cozy sitting area where you can relax and enjoy your treat. The comfortable seating and pleasant ambiance make it an ideal spot to unwind while savoring your gelato. Whether you're a gelato aficionado or simply looking for a sweet treat in comfortable surroundings, Snack Baby Gelato & Drinks delivers...
