If you want to be treated like an idiot, this restaurant is the perfect go-to place ! At first, I chose to go to this restaurant because my sister read some good reviews on the internet. But, no! Their service is the worst that I have ever had. To start with, I didn't have high expectations from their customer service, but we were treated like imbeciles, and that is highly unacceptable.

Service : When we were ready to order, the waiter told us in a rude way that they ran out of two types of noodles. He, then, interrupted my sister while she tries to ask him a question about the meat. When it was my turn, I chose one of the noodles that was out of stock. I didn't do that on purpose. I was only not familiar with the noodle types. He didn't let me apologize, and he started yelling, giving us an attitude and treating us like idiots. When he left, we tried to ask another waitress to take our order, but she just told the first waiter to do it... We didn't leave for another restaurant because we were too hungry, and my mom told us to simply ignore the service. Worst.decision.ever.

Food : I took the braised beef noodles. It was not that good (and I am not a picky eater). To be honest, the meat was fine, but my noodles were not cooked enough. So, I only finished the meat, and left the noodles. At the end, we went to McDonald's afterward ! Even a fast food restaurant, McDonald's, was way better than this restaurant !

Price : it's overpriced for the quality and quantity they gave. 45HK $ for the braised beef noodles. My combo McSpicy Chicken filet cost me 27HK $ only, and it was more satisfying !

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place, and I would...

Kau Kee Kau Kee Food Cafe has a simple but excellent menu. You pick your type of Beef and you pick your type of noodle. You can go for the curry option but it’s not as good as the standard Beef Brisket with Noodle in Soup. Stick to this dish:

10/10 - 上湯牛腩粗麵/ Beef Brisket with Cumain Noodles

A small bowl for the price but it’s worth it for the brisket. Thin strips of tender beef wrapped in a flavoursome fatty coating it 10/10. You can choose between vermicelli, flat noodles or a thicker style. I’d recommend going for the 粗麵 ‘Cumian’ - it’s a Hong Kong style flat noodle. It adds a little chewiness to the melt in your mouth beef. It’s definitely the best 粗麵 I’ve had in any cart noodle shop.

8/10 - 咖喱牛筋腩河粉/ Beef Brisket with Rice Noodle in Curry

A very average Hong Kong style curry soup. Normally you get the concentrated curry flavour finished with a thicker coconut milk. This one is a little too watery and lacking in any kind of concentrated punch. The beef brisket and tendon is excellent but you could just get that in a normal soup dish. The tendon is 9/10 - very thin pieces soft and slowly cooked past the point of chewy and into glutinous. If you like tendon but have been put off by some places with pieces that are very thick, chewy and almost crunchy then this is a great...

Kau Kee is a really famous joint for beef brisket so expect long queues. Usually beef brisket is paired with flat rice noodles, thin yellow noodles and other options but here it is popularly paired with E-fu noodles and it tastes so good that they serve plain E-fu noodles in soup too. The beef brisket curry was really nice because it had lots of caraway seeds which is how a good tasting beef brisket curry should have. Sadly the last time I had this delicious tasting beef brisket was in the UK which is a bit of a shame for something that I should be able to get readily in Hong Kong. Also had the plain e-fu noodles which are the best you can get in Hong Kong. It is really difficult to get good tasting E-fu noodles because not many people order it other restaurants so the uncooked noodles (in dry form) have probably been sitting there for quite a while therefore going rancid because of the environment. But here, they are served nearly every minute which means they won't be sitting in the storeroom for long from the time to get rancid. Anyway, the E-fu noodles were lovely and al-dente when they arrived and the broth was sweet, loaded with lots of spring onions giving it a...

Visited on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm. Was hoping that there wouldn’t be much of a line, but was wrong! Still, the wait was not that long, as the restaurants moves its diners in and out pretty quickly. Highly recommend the beef brisket noodles. The beef was so tender and flavorful. We paired it with e-fu noodles, but you can choose other styles as you prefer (e.g., flat rice noodles, egg noodles). While the regular beef brisket noodles are excellent, I think their real signature dish is their curry beef brisket and tendon. The curry soup has a really good depth of flavor and mouthfeel. The beef and tendons have obviously been soaking in the curry soup for a long time, as they’ve taken on the flavor. EXCELLENT bowl of noodles. Service is as brusk as you would expect for this type of local establishment. Meaning, don’t expect warmth from the staff. But the food nevertheless comes out very fast. I always find myself coming back here whenever we have out-of-town guests, as Kau Kee’s noodle soups are IMHO really iconic and represents Hong Kong well.

The noodles here are freaking bomb!! I can't believe that I only tried this place recently and not the prior trips I've taken to HK. This place was recommended by family members and friend so I had to come and wait in that line to try for myself. I came here on a week night and waited about 20 minutes, which isn't that had. However, given HK's humidity, it felt 20 minutes too long. Upon being seated, I ordered their beef tendon in e-fu noodles with curry broth (#14). Pictures don't do you justice but it's literally an orgasm in your mouth. The beef is so tender and juicy, unlike certain places where it takes you over 10 chews before you can even swallow. The types of noodles they use is an interesting combination because I've never had e-fu noodles with beef tendon, especially in a curry broth. For about $55HKD (~$7USD), it's worth your money and time. The bowl is small compared to what you think in pictures but that gives you room to try other dishes either here or at restaurants nearby. Give this place a shot and you will not be disappointed!
