Gordon Ramsay, a name synonymous with culinary excellence, brings a tantalizing experience even at 35,000 feet with his 'Plane Food To-Go' offering. As someone always on the hunt for a satisfying pre-flight meal, I was naturally drawn to try out the much-talked-about burger from Ramsay's menu.
Visually, the burger looked every bit gourmet. A golden, lightly toasted bun encased a juicy patty, adorned with fresh, vibrant lettuce and a gleaming slice of tomato. The presentation, even for a to-go option, was impeccable.
Taking the first bite, the quality of the meat was evident. The patty was succulent, seasoned to perfection, and had that distinct rich flavor that only comes from high-quality beef. The accompanying condiments and fresh vegetables provided a delightful contrast, both in terms of texture and taste. The bun, often an overlooked component, was fresh and held together well, complementing the robust flavors of the burger.
However, like any culinary experience, there were a couple of minor critiques. I found the burger slightly greasier than expected, and while the richness of the meat was commendable, a tad more acidity or perhaps a tangier sauce could have elevated the overall flavor profile.
Pricewise, considering it's a gourmet offering by a world-renowned chef in an airport setting, one might argue it's reasonable, though some might find it on the steeper side compared to standard airport fare.
In conclusion, Gordon Ramsay's Plane Food To-Go Burger delivers a hearty and quality experience for those looking to indulge before their flight. While there are slight areas for improvement, the overall experience is undeniably superior to most airport meals, earning it a commendable four out of five stars. If you're a burger aficionado traveling through, this is one pitstop you...
Read moreWas amusing to see a Gordon Ramsay kiosk in the airport after going through customs early in the morning. Barely awake brain thought it’d be interesting to try non-Asian options so I went here to buy a cheese & bacon roll plus a cold Americano. The staff were like me, barely registering the presence of people, not happy being there and certainly not so early in the day. It was really typical HK service yet I couldn’t help wonder what Gordon would be saying to these staff re: Kitchen Nightmares.
The roll and coffee were all pre-made and served quickly. The cheese had solidified sitting there for who knows how long and I was regretting my decision to not go Asian. Cold coffee was fine and strong something even sandwich idiots couldn’t screw up.
This plane food offering is a bad example of what happens when rich people throw money at a celebrity chef to use his brand name. Gordon obviously isn’t there and the quality is below par. Whatever sum Ramsey received must have been enough to ward off his embarrassment with regards to...

I was buying breakfast on 21 Jan 2023 and waited in the line for more than ten minutes. When I arrived at the cashier, I was told that I had to order the drink as well. And I could not order cheaper soft drinks. You were required to order drinks that cost at least 39 HKD. Otherwise, they will charge you double for the food. ???
I said I would like a ginger ale which cost me 20 HKD. The cashier said I could not. It’s my favourite drink but as she said she would charge me double for the sandwich for not ordering any expensive drinks, I gave up by ordering a tea which I didn’t want as much.
I have never heard about such a rule in any restaurants in Hong Kong. They did not mention this clearly in the restaurant in written form. I feel it’s very inappropriate to make customers wait for so long and make them pay for something they do not have to.
Avoid...
