Food: 2/5 I bought the Tonkotsu Ramen with Grilled Chashu Set. Although I wasn't expecting anything spectacular or savory, I mean, its airport food after all, I was still left disappointed with this dish. First of all, it's way too overpriced, definitely not worth HKD140, for that amount of money, I expected a bit more than what I got. As all you get is a slice of rough and dry chashu with a bowl of overall bland ramen. The Tonkotsu broth was more than disappointing, it tasted way too salty and didn't bring out the pork flavor enough. The flavored egg and snack was mediocre, nothing about it is appalling, but it also isn't anything special to talk about.
As much as I dislike the food, one thing I applaud them is their truthfulness on their images, the food looked exactly like the images on the kiosk, which the same can't be said for the other restaurants in the airport.
Service: 4/5 I used to the kiosk machine, so I didn't have much service to begin with, but the stuff at the store was attentive and did call out the numbers to help customers collect their food. They were also very kind and respectful to their customers.
Atmoshphere: 3/5 It's the airport dining area, there's really nothing to talk about, it's just some desk and chairs you can sit on to eat...
Read moreDuring a recent layover at Hong Kong International Airport, the Bari-Uma Ramen stall in the food court was the most appealing option. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen with grilled Chashu and a seasoned egg. They included a soft drink and a mochi dessert.
My food was prepared quickly. The ramen itself was excellent. The rich, creamy tonkotsu broth (pork bone base) had a deep, savory flavor. The noodles were fresh (not instant), thin, and cooked to an al dente texture. The grilled Chashu came as a thick slice — it was tender, lean, and had a nice barbecue flavor. The egg, with its gooey center, was delicious and complemented the overall experience well.
While I can't speak to the mochi (my wife enjoyed it), the ramen certainly provided a great experience. For a delicious ramen option at HKIA, Bari-Uma is well worth...

Despite the lunch rush, he patiently answered all my questions with a smile and even offered warm wishes when handing me my order. His kindness made me feel genuinely welcomed in this busy city.
The food was mediocre (the soup particularly salty), but his thoughtful service more than compensated. For travelers like me, good service trumps perfect food - though adjustable salt levels would be ideal. A reminder that hospitality turns ordinary meals into memorable...
