They offer a variety of classic dishes, some Shandong Speciality dishes that are definitely worth trying. They cook everything on the menu well but it’s the spices they use in the dumplings and on the meat that really is something special. The 5 dumplings & noodles in soup is the staple of the place. Go for the first one: traditional cabbage & pork dumpling. It has a little drop of broth waiting inside - perfect. The fried dumplings, pancakes & 餡餅 are okay but I wouldn’t choose them over the soft water dumplings. The flavour is lost a little in the over frying.
If you’re looking to try some of the Shandong Specialities, I’d recommend the Shredded Pork Pancakes with Beijing Sweet Sauce they are a particular favourite of mine. Very similar to a duck pancake in style and construction but with a Beijing style sweet sauce instead of a plum one.
If you’re still on the hunt for the best of Shandong then get the Lamb Chops or the Hand-Shredded Roast Chicken. Both are cooked brilliantly. A Smokiness and then finished in a slightly acidic sauce. Just plain tasty.
Spicy Shredded Potato - opt for the spicy one over the snack option because there’s a brilliant sour & sweetness that comes through.
The Qingdao Pig Knuckle is a good but more adventurous choice. Is does come cold which might not be to everyone’s tastes but it is coated in a unique jelly that I hadn’t tasted since i...
Read moreThis is a local small Dumpling restaurant. It was a Sunday Lunch and after the CNY break so not many people were around. The Dumpling is handmade to order and not pre-made like most dumpling shops. I ordered the "Mixed Lamb Soup" which is quite a strong flavour. “Green Onion and Mutton Cake" was very crispy and had loads of flavour and juice in it. For the Dumpling I tried the 2 most famous 1s which are:- “10 Qingdao Cuttlefish” Dumpling which was well seasoned and full of juices inside. “8 Mackerel Fish” Dumpling with soup which I had never seen before. This 1 also was very well seasoned and full of juices inside. The only thing that could be better is the filling in both dumplings could be a bit solid and not break apart so easily. The staff are friendly and nice. For a Michelin restaurant,t it is good for the money and a cheap eat. Worth a try. All the food did not have MSG which I hate and Uncle Roger loves which he will not like this restaurant lol!!...
Read moreI went there to buy takeaway of dumplings. It was my first time to go. But i wont go again bcos i saw the woman who made the dumpling wiped her face with her hands after sneezing. She looked tired even with her mask on ( eyes circles were so dark). She continued to make the cold dishes " knuckle" and "garlic pork slice" without washing her hands. The woman just left the dish ready to serve uncovered on the counter table where many customers and delivery guys stand there. The dumplings are oily and too salty. The pork chop noodle is different from the normal one sold in Shanghai food restaurant, theirs are actually braised pork ribs and not the deep fried one. The Shangdong roast chicken is terrible, the portion of regular one $40 is so little, just a pcs of chicken leg, even MacDonald's one tastes better than it. What i experienced was opposite to what i read from those popular...
