Genki Sushi (Olympian City) — Restaurant in Kowloon

The sushi at genki is OK, but not extraordinary. Quality is not very consistent though. Sometimes the sushi feels really fresh and juicy, and other times is feels dry and sad. Also, the restaurant tends to fill up quite quickly around peak hours, and waiting times can be horrendous.

Last time we got a table at the very back of the restaurant with very bad Internet reception. It usually wouldn't be a problem, except that genki switched a few years ago to an online ordering portal. I had to get up and walk to the front of the restaurant to be able to order. While the online system usually ensures that orders are correct, staff are now less helpful and less friendly if you need their direct assistance.

A few years back the level of English was not great, but it has gotten much worse now.

The app allows to order in English, which is great, but the bill printout is in Chinese. They used to ask me if I wanted the bill in English or in Chinese, now they even told me I cannot get it in English. This makes it very hard for me to...

Affordable, delicious sushi at a relaxing environment. Although you would have to find the right time for eating here--somewhere around 1200-1215 and 1800-1815 would be great for lunch and dinner respectively--or else you would have to wait for 50+ seats. Never go with more than 2 people otherwise you’ll wait forever until they have seated parties of 2 people first. You’ll also need to get their app for which you’ll need to have spent a certain amount of money with them first so you can reserve a ticket online and not have to go up to the counter to get a ticket allowing you to essentially skip the commoner line.
