My favorite dimsum restaurant in the world I think.

The menu is a bit hard to review with specificity because it changes quite frequently.

That said, there are some classic items that are always present it seems, so I'll start with those:

酥皮焗叉燒包 (16): Sweet, crispy bread exterior (like a 墨西哥飽), comes out piping hot from the oven with a gooey 叉燒 interior. Quite good. 賽螃蟹春卷 (18): Freshly fried and burning hot spring rolls filled with crab. Great spring rolls, if you're into spring rolls. 魚腐滑雞扎 (16): A well-made fairly classic 雞扎, with the only notable change being the addition of a fish cake. It's nice that it comes pre-split into two pieces, though. 豉汁蒸鳳爪 (15): The first time I've ever had chicken feet that are so tender that they're falling off the bone. 晶瑩鮮蝦餃 (24): A well-made classic 蝦餃, with very good and fresh shrimp. 鮮蝦燒賣皇 (24): A well-made classic 燒賣, with very good and fresh shrimp. 美味炆鮮竹卷 (15): A well-made classic.

Other items I've tried before that aren't always available: 金銀蛋廋肉粥 (16): Filled with ingredients like salty egg, that deeply infuse the flavor of the rice congee. Wonderful, it's what a rice congee should taste like. 菜乾豬骨粥 (16): Another great congee from them, I think they're just very good at congee, as they only make one flavor, and cook it long enough for the flavors to infuse. 魚滑煎釀尖椒 (16): Instead of using bell peppers, they use spicy peppers, possibly jalapenos. Also, the fish paste has a more real fish taste than is typical. I quite liked these. 錦繡炒米粉 (16): Beyond a typical 米粉, with sections that have been seared to crispness and impart an amazing aroma to the entire dish. 雜錦魚滑豆腐球 (16): Fried tofu imbued with chunks of fish, quite tasty. 韭王鮮蝦腸 (21): The 韭王 gives the wrap an extra flavor kick, and the skin of the wrap is fairly nice in texture. 荔耳西米露 (15): A well-made classic sago. 土魷馬蹄肉餅飯 (19): Alright, but could use some more flavor, nothing too special but not bad. 金風腊肠卷 (15): Chinese sausage wrapped in a steamed bun, made interesting by their very not-factory-made taste to the sausage. The casing has a distinct identity, and the flavors of the contents are strong. 黑珍珠粟米露 (16): A sweet corn soup with what seemed like dragon fruit seeds. Not bad. 南北杏雪耳燉木瓜 (15): A pleasant sweet soup with papaya. 紫菜牛肉鍋貼 (15): 鍋貼 with a seaweed filling and a slimy texture almost like okra. It's innovative, but I'm not sure I'd get it again. 酥脆牛肉粉果 (15): Absolutely awful. I don't know what was going on here, but they carried the flavor of ammonia or menthol on the inside. Reminded me of hakarl, the notorious Icelandic fermented shark.

They have a mandatory tea fee of 2 a person.

Come early to avoid a long wait. Early in the morning on weekdays from 8-9 or so you can just stroll right in. Coming late at around 3pm also...

I recently visited Tim Ho Wan and was blown away by the quality and flavor of every dish. I ordered the Jade Shrimp Balls, Pork & Shrimp Dumplings, BBQ Pork Rice Rolls, the Signature BBQ Pork Rice with Fried Egg, and a Signature Cold Milk Tea, each one was outstanding in its own right.

The Jade Shrimp Balls were delicate and perfectly seasoned, with plump, fresh shrimp inside. The Pork & Shrimp Dumplings were juicy and savory, bursting with flavor in every bite. I especially loved the BBQ Pork Rice Rolls, silky smooth rice sheets wrapped around sweet and smoky BBQ pork, paired with a perfectly balanced soy-based sauce.

The Signature BBQ Pork Rice with Fried Egg was a comforting and flavourful dish, the BBQ pork was tender and slightly sweet, and the runny fried egg added a rich, velvety touch. To wash it all down, the Signature Cold Milk Tea was smooth, strong, and just the right level of sweetness a perfect finish to the meal.

There is a mandatory tea fee of 6 HKD, which is standard in many Hong Kong eateries, and it’s well worth it for the authentic experience.

Overall, Tim Ho Wan absolutely lives up to its reputation as one of the best dim sum spots around. Fresh ingredients, expertly crafted dishes, and great value for the quality! I can’t...

Well, I think you have already read reviews so no need to mention about what is this place or how it got Michelin star etc. So here is my review; We were overall satisfied with the experience. Especially considering price, it is one of the best deal you can get. Not every item was noteworthy but in average it was a satisfactory diner.

  1. Baked bun with BBQ pork. Star of the night. Must be ordered.
  2. Steamed fresh shrimp dim sum. Star of the night episode 2. A classic. Don’t miss. So simple yet delicious.
  3. Deep fried dumpling filled with pork&dry shrimp. This is like sticky rice. I think there was not enough filling inside. It was dry. Can be skipped.
  4. Deep fried spring roll filled with shrimp&egg white. I have tasted better. I still can not forget the one I tasted in Vietnam but these were good too. Can be ordered.
  5. Baked chicken wrapped in paper with lemongrass&fish sauce. A must try if you like lemongrass.
  6. Steamed chicken feet with black been sauce. I didn’t like the sauce. Not my taste. I think this dish must be served with hot sauce.
  7. Steamed egg cake. Must be ordered. Kids finished it in 10 secs. Delicious.
  8. Deep fried sesame balls filled with custard cream. I have tasted better ones before....

I came solo on a Thursday morning right after they open so I didn’t have to wait. They use up every single seat they have inside the restaurant so if you dine alone, be prepared to sit with people you don’t know. I sat with a family of 3. The husband and wife were so nice. They helped me order food in Chinese too. I ordered baked BBQ pork bun, shrimp ha jiao, and chicken feet. I absolute love the baked BBQ bun!! They are well known for it. It’s a combination of sweet and savory taste. Savory BBQ pork inside, sprinkle sugar on the outside. Ha jiao and chicken feet were standard, just like other places where I have had dim sum: Vancouver, NYC, SF, LA, Seattle, China, VN. They didn’t make the food anything special to make you remember. The food was good and tasty in general. It’s not a bad dim sum place. Not expensive. I think I would come back if I don’t have any better options available.
