I want to have a relaxing lunch here but the chef seems to be in a rush. The next dish was served even before the last one was finished, an even if the customer wasn't at the table, the dish was served and let to cool. i feel like being in a 茶餐廳 instead of a japanese teppanyaki restaurant. The waiter did not serve tea if not requested and did not remove the plate before the next dish is served. Besides, they put different customers in group of 6~8 so that they are served by the chef at the same time. The food is generally oily, salmon was overcooked and the beef is far from waygu. Quality of food is not good, the fried vegetable was tasteless, i can even do better at home. The fried rice was prepared in advance to be reheated in front of the customers, what a shame! Although you can re-order for some of the items, there was absolutely nothing i wanted to encore. The whole course was finish within an hour. Definitely not worth the price. I regret going there and spending $1k for the...

I wanted to have a nice and relaxing dinner. But experienced the opposite. We ordered a 6 course meal and sashimi platter. Total amount of 2100 HK dollars includes 10% service charge. The whole dinner took us less than 40 minutes. Service was really really BAD! We were still busy to finish a course and they bring the next one. And the food is ok, but not that great though. You can have great sushi, better service and ambience in other places for a lot less... Really a bummer. And we were still hungry after we left. If you wanted to be treated with respect than this is not the place to be.

With no friendly regards,

Angry...

As one of the most well-known Japanese restaurants in town, located within a top-tier hotel, premium pricing paired with exceptional quality has always been expected—and previously well justified. For years, I was happy to pay $320 for their beef udon lunch set, which used to come with tender beef, flavorful udon, fresh sashimi, and well-crafted side dishes. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing. The beef was tough, the udon lacked the usual quality, and the sashimi was bland and had a rubbery texture, suggesting it had been frozen for an extended period. The overall experience no longer lives up to the...

There are too many good teppanyaki restaurant in Hong Kong as locals love Japanese food. So I wouldn't recommend their teppanyaki as there are far better options for the same price one has to pay. The set menu offers a lot of choices. They come with appetizers and soup. Love the sushi and the udon. The best is that you can choose their udon to be served in hot soup or just cold (you dip in the cold sauce). The texture of the udon was the same as those I ate in Japan. Sushi set was spot on. Will definitely come back.

Long time not visit Unkai, stay in Sheraton, decided to lunch there. Decor design same as before, neet & quiet. We decided la cart sushimi, but sat on teppanyiki table more open & airy. Sake sommelier recommended an award winner sake for us to pair their freshest sushimi of the day, wow, so fresh & yummy! Manager told me their all you can eat teppanyiki lunch is returning with higher quality food, must revisit to try! This place is very good🍶🍶
