When I make my way to Hong Kong, my first stop is the labyrinth of exotic restaurants on the first and second floors of the iconic Chungking Mansions. Sometimes it is my second stop, as wellđ
There are African and Southeast Asian restaurants, as well, but most of the establishments are from the Indian subcontinent and this gives the Chungking Mansions a very distinctive vibe.
Among a number of great options, my favourite is the Bismillah Kebab house. Great food, great prices, great service. This time I got the lamb pizza and it was fabulous but I haven't gone wrong yet with anything I have ordered there so far. The biggest challenge is making a choice with so many wonderful possibilities.
I arrived around 10:00PM and was informed that they were only doing carryout at that point so I ate my pizza in nearby Kowloon Park. To be honest, the dining area is nothing special, anyway, just simple tables, hard chairs and regular customers. But this "nothing special" makes the place "special" if you get my idea.

Read moreOne of my go to restaurants for kebabs and rolls. My favourites include the Chicken Roll and Chicken Tikka Roll as well as thier pizzas. There are other dishes that are quite good as well.
What I like about the place The food tastes pretty good The price range is affordable â$50-60 per person The portion size is more than enough for a person generally This shop has Octopus and credit card payment options apart from cash The owner and waiters are quite friendly. They remember old customers and their orders. The service is quite quick - 15-20 minutes waiting time They have a menu with the prices The location is convenient there is a family room (that needs to be reserved)
What could be improved they could have the menu digitally (like have a QR code so that people can access it easily rather than having to get the physical one)
Overall, this place is pretty solid when it comes to their food...
Read moreThis was the worst dining experience we had recently in Hong Kong. We went there after the rude management of Siddique Halal Mess on 6th floor. We ordered Chicken Karahi đ„ and chicken broast with naan. I was shocked when they served chicken karahi in a small plate, half cooked and cold. The chicken broast meat was not even chewable. Additionally, it was way overpriced. Not recommended at all!
