This is just a hostel! Don't expect this is a hotel, regarding the services, room cleaningness and facilities. You gonna clean the rubbish bin and cups by yourself! There is no room services unless you stay for a week while the hotel frontdesk staff did not tell me that they do not do room services, I was shocked to see that the housekeeper only changed the towels and rubbish bin but not tidy the bed, table, cups etc when I come back. Even I finally stayed a week, there was no one cleaning the room, no vaccuming the carpet or cleaning the table, etc! You need to call to frontdesk and housekeeping to ask for everything and usually takes a few times! The room was old and not clean! Need to change 3 rooms during my stay because of the noisy A/C, lack of privacy room (there is a window from the lift lobby that can look straightly to the room), and very dirty room with mold and damaged toilet door and a/c. However, the staff denied their untidiness and old rooms. The frontdesk and security staff are all wearing poker face and having no greeting at all! You just feel like you are not welcomed at all! No one helps on your lugguage though I got 4 when I arrived! Their attitude was bad when I told them I needed to extend stay! The housekeepers were impolite and not professional at all, they just came and gave you stuff at the door without smile or saying a word! You just feel like this is a quarantine hotel though it is not as it claims. Every morning, the housekeepers just make noise and talk loudly outside rooms! There was once the housekeepers just suddenly bumped into my room saying that they need to spray pesticide! Is it crazy? It disturbs my sleep and how can they spray pesticide when people are in the room? The self-help washing machines are vintage! At least 50 years old but it charges HKD$35 ONCE! and only 3 machines while 1 was broken, people needed to wait for laundry but there was time limit of the washing room. Better go out for 24 hour self-help laundry room! The gym facilities were old and packed! There were random people because the hotel sells gym package to public. I saw two ugly men who did not wear masks and kept screaming and wandering around me during my gym time! The gym staff just ignored that and played with her phone.I would say there was poor management and training for staff in this hotel! The location was good, and the hotel group was a rich NGO, what a waste of that poor management and services...
Read moreWhile the Salisbury YMCA hotel is located at a really convenient location in Kowloon’s TST tourist area, our recent 3 week stay there were marred by a number of factors: (1) As loyal returned guests, we emailed the General Manager Ms. Lam twice way before our stay with a very simple request (not asking for upgrades at all). She did not bother to reply us both times. Even if she did not wish to say yes to our very simple request, she could have written a quick, friendly email to reply us. But she did not. This is quite contrary to the YMCA’s hospitality standard, and quite contrary to what she claims (in her responses) to guests’ reviews on TripAdvisor saying she is very glad & willing to respond to guests’ requests & comments. (2) Although the Harbour view room (we booked this category) truly has very beautiful view of the Victoria Harbour, the room’s has several significant problems: (A) The AC did not work well at all. We could not lower the temperature even when the weather was very hot. (B) The hot water of the shower ran out even after a brief 4 minute shower each night when I took shower around 9 pm. (C) The hotel telephone has really bad static when I made local calls which really made the calls really difficult. All these issues show the rooms really need a refurbishment desperately! (3) There are a few managers at the lobby every day. But most of them never smile & never greet guests with a simple “Good morning” or “Good afternoon” which they really should. We think the General Manager should train them better. (4) The hotel’s lobby cafe (called the Mall Cafe) Manager Mr. Timothy has a rude attitude towards the staffs & guests alike. He is always stone-faced as if he is in a bad mood which makes dining at the cafe quite unpleasant to say the least. /With these said, we want to sincerely thank the Assistant Reservation Manager Ms. Joyce Lee for helping us amend our hotel arrival date due to unforeseen personal reasons. And we want to sincerely thank Ms.Ceci at the Front Desk who always rendered excellent service to us. She is always very helpful, very professional, and very courteous & pleasant which we really appreciate. We certainly hope the Management at the Salisbury YMCA hotel takes our constructive feedback seriously & not just pay lip service &...
Read moreOur stay at this hotel was far from what we expected based on its 4-star rating. We had two reservations for a 5 night stay, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Andy, the duty manager. While the service was polite, it was quite standard. During check-in, there was confusion regarding the incidental deposit. Andy asked if he could use the card on file for my partner’s parents' stay, but I explained that this was not preferred due to potential international fees. I offered a travel card instead, but it was not accepted as it was a debit card. He also mentioned that any charges made to my debit card would be non-refundable, which was surprising given that the hotel would have all my card details. Furthermore, the incidental deposit for my own reservation had been charged 2 days before our arrival—something I’ve never encountered at other hotels. The room assignment was another issue. Andy did not confirm the bedding configuration and we were automatically assigned rooms with two single beds. When I inquired, I was informed that due to an upgrade, only single beds were available. While we didn’t mind, a proactive offer to switch to a king bed the next day would have significantly improved our experience. The biggest disappointment, however, was the room itself. The condition was more reminiscent of a motel than a 4-star hotel—there was excessive mold in the bathroom, broken shower screen doors, stains on the toilet seat, and even trash behind the bedside table. To make matters worse, only the phone in the bathroom was functional, while the other two in the room were not connected. Ultimately, we decided to check out early and move across the street to The Langham, where we received an exceptional level of service. If you're looking for a quality stay, I’d highly recommend considering other options. This hotel may be more suitable for large tour groups rather than travelers seeking a comfortable and...
