Went there on a weekend afternoon and they only provided one brunch menu with free flow champagne. The price ranged from $788 with no alcohol and $988 to $1288 with different kinds of champagne. The menu included a huge variety of items from appetizer to dessert. Appetizer 🥢Seared Scallops Didn't expect it to be served cold as it wasn't stated in the menu but it was still pretty raw inside so the texture was good

🥢Blue Mussels This was a terrible dish to start with! Never had any mussels shrunken like these... Must have been cooked hours ago and put in the salamander to keep heating for hours

🥢Chilled Thinly-cut Pork in Chilli and Garlic Sauce The pork was thinly sliced, a bit tough but as a garlic lover I couldn't refuse the mashed garlic

Unlimited - funnily enough this is the unlimited session but the quality is the best among other food 🥢Steamed Dim Sum The steamed Dim Sum are overall okay. Served very hot

🥢Tiger Balm Fungus Bao I did not finish it because the dough was too thick and filling. My friend described the appearance looked just like the plastic floor mat in the park

🥢Charcoal Crispy Pork Dumpling Another black dish. Tasted just like normal Ham Sui Kok

🥢Deep-fried Dim Sum Served hot and crispy. Btw they put the bamboo leaf upside down on the rice paper wrap dish lol

🥢Sichuan Chili Pepper Chicken As the name says it's indeed chicken in chili. The taste was alright. Kind of spicy. But the chicken was overcooked and soooo dry

Main Course - here comes the most disappointing session 🍽️Wok-friend Cod in Sweet Chili and Oyster sauce I almost thought I was having a two-dish-rice. Served only slightly warm. The asparagus were even cold

🍽️Kung Po Chili Prawn Chili? Where's the chili? It's extra sweet and sour overcooked shrunken prawn

🍽️Grilled Lamb Rack with Fennel Seeds +$98 We had high expectations on this dish but none of us wanted to finish one rack .. It stated it was Mongolian style so I was hoping for some spices but turned out it was cooked in sweet charsiu sauce. I understand they wanna please more westerners but can't they describe the dish better on the menu? I definitely didn't want more sweet dish because the other two we picked were sweet and we wanted a balance. Also the lamb was totally overcooked, as tough as an unprocessed pork chop... This is honestly worse than buffet quality food

🍚Chicken and Egg Fried Rice with Yunnan Ham Another precooked dish straight from the salamander or rice cooker. Whatever. No wok hei and so little ingredients inside

🍰Dessert Platter Very pretty dessert platter as a finish. I didn't want any of the desserts because I was too full and had enough of sweet main courses

Overall the portion of the menu was huge but not enjoyable. We did not order any of the unlimited dishes again. They also had some optional signature dishes that guests might order like peking duck and barbecued pork. The server was attentive, kept refilling...

OMG, let me tell you about Hutong. First of all, I still want to acknowledge the beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant. The stunning view, high-end yet welcoming dining areas, and traditional chinese decor created a unique and immersive experience. The lighting design is top level, and the music playlist added a lot to the ambiance. The sound and the presence of the chef passing by with the flaming duck trolley is also very exciting.

In terms of the food, I found it to be quite good compare to our last time especially considering the value for money offered by the set menu. I often recommend Hutong to my clients, specifically suggesting they try the duck or dim sum platter.

However, I must express my disappointment with the service provided. The staff seemed to lack knowledge about the food and drinks, and they were unable to make any recommendations. Furthermore, the menu was dirty, with crackers stuck on it and oil stains. Despite bringing this to the attention of the waiters, they returned with the same dirty menu when we requested other beverages.

Same as last year, we came for our anniversary celebration, so we ordered 2 glasses of champagne. First of all, the waiters forgot the order, and they were served without any presentation or showing of the bottle. Additionally, the glassware provided was inconsistent compare to other tables, and the pour of champagne was small compared to its price of 178HKD + The waitstaff seemed unaware of the quantity poured and had to consult with each other to provide an answer of 125ml which i felt the pour did not match. We also ordered two types of tea. They forgot and ended up blending them together in one cup. Furthermore, when we expressed our concerns to the waiter, he left the table without addressing the issue. The waitstaff also failed to provide any explanation of the dishes served through the night, although they were delicious. If you dare mention something to the manager, he will become upset and drop you the food with an attitude by making sure he destroyed the presentation after shaking it.

I also want to mention that it was disappointing that our anniversary was not acknowledged or given any special attention, but no wonder as the team is following the poor leadership.

In summary, while Hutong offers a visually appealing atmosphere and decent food, the service provided does not meet the expected standards. The staff's lack of professionalism and attention to detail, along with the issues mentioned above, detracted from the overall experience. I would not recommend Hutong to those seeking an...

I recently had the opportunity to visit this restaurant based on a recommendation to enjoy the light show and try the famed Peking duck. While the food—particularly the duck, hot sour soup, and the stunning light display—was undeniably impressive, the overall experience was sadly marred by exceptionally poor service.

From the outset, our server was aloof and dismissive, never once checking in to see how we were doing or even offering a warm greeting. She was notably sassy from the start and, after taking our order, disappeared for long stretches, leaving us feeling completely neglected. At one point, my sweet grandmother ordered a bottle of champagne, and after our first glass was finished, we waited a full ten minutes before she finally had to pour her own from the bucket, which was placed at the other end of the table. The lack of attention was baffling, especially when we observed the staff gathered in a corner, chatting and texting on their phones, seemingly indifferent to their guests.

Even more concerning, the table next to us was left with empty plates and no water for over 15 minutes, which only highlighted the neglectful service we were receiving. For a place that isn’t exactly inexpensive, and one that prides itself on offering a premium experience, the level of attention to customers was shockingly poor. The crab dish, priced at $150 USD, was a particular disappointment—covered in an excessive amount of pepper, with more shells than meat, making it a messy and unsatisfactory experience.

To make matters worse, the restrooms were in a state of disrepair, which further detracted from the ambiance. After sitting for 20 minutes without a bill or even a refill of champagne—while the staff continued their casual chatter in the back corner—I’m left feeling frustrated and disappointed. As this was my final night in Hong Kong, it’s disheartening that such a beautiful location with so much potential was marred by service that completely missed the mark. I can only hope that others have a more pleasant...

Visited in October 2024. Hong Kong. We booked this restaurant because we were looking for a place with beautiful views and traditional Chinese cuisine. The restaurant itself has a simple, dark decor with low lighting. We were seated at a table overlooking the incredible cityscape. Food: We came here to try the Flaming Peking duck with its crispy skin and the Roasted suckling pig. We also ordered the Pan-fried Hokkaido scallops with peppercorn and Baked crab shell stuffed with crab meat & conpoy as appetizers. Unfortunately, we found the appetizers to be rather underwhelming. The scallops were disappointing, as the spices, in our opinion, were overpowering and masked the natural sweetness of the scallops. The crab, while flavorful, felt dry, which was surprising as crab can be so delicate and almost melt-in-your-mouth. The main dishes, however, were phenomenal. The pork was incredibly tender with a beautifully crisp skin. The hoisin sauce was a perfect complement to the slightly sweet pork. The duck, which was presented by the chef himself who flambéed it tableside and then sliced it, was a real showstopper. The skin was incredibly crispy, with a hint of sweetness, and not overly fatty. It was everything we hoped for in a Peking duck. The meat was still juicy and tender. We enjoyed eating the skin separately, although they also provided pancakes for wrapping. Service: The service was excellent. Drinks were promptly refilled, dirty dishes were cleared efficiently. We felt well taken care of. But special credit goes to the reservation team who were incredibly helpful. They ensured we got our table by the window even though we were running late. They also accommodated all my requests and passed them on to the kitchen. Thank you! Conclusion: This is a great restaurant for traditional Chinese cuisine. The unbeatable views are a major plus. While we didn't love all the dishes, the main courses were exceptional. The restaurant is on the pricier side, but if you're celebrating a special occasion, it’s a fantastic choice.

Hutong = sadly Style over substance. Let’s start by the bad points : - service not really good, had to go and order at the bar our drinks several times as it was not coming. Please note that was unlimited soft drinks type. - We got the Peking duck without the pancakes. Almost 500 hkd for Peking duck which was supposed to serve 3-4, let’s say it was a small portion for the price. - The dim sum were on an unlimited basis BUT we had to wait quite a while for refill which kind of kill the unlimited experience. - the mains were average and the beef was not great at all. We could not eat the beef short rib. Bland and oily meat. - the desserts : the chocolate was supposed to be lava chocolate cake. Well the strawberries on the top were frozen and the chocolate inside the pastry so hard. Why called it lava? The jelly dessert tasted weird. The lemon tart barely had any lemon curd. The mochi was quite tasty but we were told it was salted caramel but it tastes like milk chocolate. The good points : - when you step out of the lift, you will be amazed by the decoration. It is just beautiful. Do walk around, really stunning. - the dim sum are very nice, we really enjoyed it. Very nicely presented and good quality dim sum. Are they the best you will have in HK? No but they are still worth trying. Overall, Hutong is for sure worth a visit. Considering the quality of our mains and the desserts and assuming that will be the same quality for diner, I would stick to the brunch as you are guaranteed to have some nice dim sum!! Price to value? Expensive clearly as I enjoyed the dim sum and nothing else. Worth a visit? yes for sure.
