This place is pretty famous whereby even A-list celebrities have visited. They're famous for their dumplings even though they have other items on their menu like congee and fried noodles.
But for an outlet famous for their dumplings, the choices are surprisingly scarce. That said, what they have is pretty good. If you're a foreigner, it's worth a try since you won't be eating it as frequently. But if you're a local, you may get bored.
Their pan fried dumplings were excellent, but since I dislike leeks, I only had one bite just to try the taste. The skin is pretty crispy and much better than the average dumplings outlet here in Hong Kong. And to my disappointment, the pan fried version is only for leek dumplings. If they had more choices, I may make repeated visits. I guess life's not as fair as you desire it to be. But hey, if you like leek dumplings, this is the place for you.
They've renovated their outlet so it's air conditioned and cleaner than the average local eatery here. Tables are pretty spacious though you still gotta share tables. Space is always a limit here...

Last year was absolutely amazing but this year not so much anymore… They have now introduced English menus (not always a bad thing of course), and the quality has gone down massively. Fried dumplings were drenched in oil, dumpling soup was full of MSG (the after taste is just not it…). Silken beef Cheung fun had barely any meat and whatever meat was found was chewy as anything. Silken where? It’s sad to see an establishment go down like this…
2024 review: They only got a few things on the menu but they do those things right. We ordered dumplings with noodles in soup, turnip cake, Cheung fun/rice rolls and soy milk. It was all very delicious. The service is simple and straightforward. The place has about 5 large round tables and you will be seated with strangers as per Hong Kong fashion. If you’re new to this, don’t be alarmed as everybody just minds their own business. Everything was very affordable and we...
Read moreThis place was on a list of local places suggested in my hotel room. I wanted something not too heavy for dinner and this was perfect.
The seating is very HK style where you just take a seat anywhere, sharing with strangers. I quite like this as you can see what other people are eating!
The menu is short which is nice and has English translations. The staff were patient with me as I don’t speak Cantonese! It is mostly congee and dumplings. I ordered wontons in soup (I think they were pork and vegetable) and got a drink from the fridge. The soup was refreshing and light and the dumplings very tasty. There are condiments on the table (excellent chilli, vinegar etc). I enjoyed it very much. You get about 8 dumplings.
The staff make the dumplings fresh during the day and you can buy them to take away.
You pay cash on the way out at the till.
Overall I really liked...
