Apomac — Restaurant in São Lázaro

We had a very authentic Portuguese cuisine experience based on the recommendation from the guy at the bar in Albergue SCM (Albergue da Santa Casa da Misericórdia).

We were not disappointed because the "blood chicken" was super delicious, even though we had never heard of it as a specialty of Portuguese cuisine. No matter what, we enjoyed this dish immensely!

The fish—whatever its name was—was also very good.

I drank two glasses of Portuguese white wine, which would not typically be served as house wine in other countries, but it was very refreshing.

Price: very reasonable!

First visit since 2019. The menu looked more upscale, so was the price. Set meal was no longer in the menu, and surprisingly, there was no soup in the menu either. What the waitress offered sounded like some typical Chinese soup. The biggest surprise was that many dishes in the menu must be requested in advance, but some of them are usually readily available to order in similar restaurants.

Be sure to make reservation before you go as they get packed so easily and the wait list is long! The suckling pig was the highlight. It was not as salty as what we’re used to and the skin was a lot crispier than the conventional ones in HK or North America. The duck and chicken were great too.
