Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House in Macau — Attraction in São Lázaro

Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House (free entry) is the 3rd attraction included on the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) sponsored 'An Experiment of Creativity' self-walking tour, which covers the interesting and less visited area around St. Lazarus District in Macau.

The 'An Experiment of Creativity' starts at the Kun Iam Temple on Avenida do Coronel Mesquita before making way to Avenida do Sidonio Pais for a visit to Flora Garden and the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House.

This house is where the important historical figure, Dr. Sun Yat Sen stayed during his time in Macau near the end of the 19th century. The building is architecturally interesting, featuring Neo-classical, Rococo and even Islamic design and features. In addition to the peculiar yet pleasing design of the property, here you will find historical accounts of the life of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, particularly related to his role as the founding father of the Republic of China.

The Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House is open from 10am to 5pm daily (Closed on Tuesdays) and can be comfortably seen in 5-10 minutes if you only fancy a look-see of the property. If you want to visit the museum collection property, best to allow 30-45 minutes of a more complete visit and experience. Then you can make way to the next place to visit as part of the 'An Experiment of Creativity' heritage trail.

Worth a quick visit for those that wants a glimpse of the father of modern China (a precursor to Mao’s China). Probably the only place in China where Republic of China’s flag is displayed prominently. The visit is free and you’re allowed to just walk around unsupervised. Really glad these historical buildings are preserved for the future...

Wonderfully preserved house where Dr. Sun Yet Sen and family resided during his time in Macau. Full of priceless family artifacts. You would come out impressed. I hope there are more places around...
