Guia Hill is most notably the location of a cluster of UNESCO World Heritage attractions (Guia Lighthouse, Chapel and Fortress) which perch upon the peak of Guia Hill overlooking the rest of Macau Peninsula. However, there hill itself is rather large offering walking trails, historic tunnels and bunker sights and an area known as the Guia Hill Municipal Park.
The park can be reached by walking up the Estr. dos Parses to the Guia Fortress and entering the park area from there. Alternatively, a fun approach is to take the Guia Cable Car from the lower Flores Garden up to Guia Hill where the park area can be found. Cable Car ride is just MOP2 one way, MOP3 return and the ride is around 90 seconds in length. You can also walk up a short series of switchbacks from the back of Flores Garden up to Guia Hill an the Municipal Park.
The park itself consists of an expected collection of children's playground area, elderly exercise questions, sports field, public bathroom and educational building facilities. There are shaded pathway which also circles Guia Hill and lots of green space and wooded area - a rarity and Macau.
In the end, not much attention is given to the Guia Hill Municipal Park as a tourist area. Most visit here for the World Heritage attractions and then return back to the streets for the attraction packed area of the Historic Centre of Macau. However, if you find yourself visiting Macau for 3-4 days, this is a great spot for quiet space in the outdoors and a great place to take a break from the chaos of...

Read moreAn unparalleled view of Macau from the top, and finding the tunnel with travelators and an elevator definitely made this trip a lot easier on a very hot sunny day. There's also a cable car that will get you up to the top, and it's about a 10-15min walk to the fortress from either the cable car or elevator. I definitely recommend going into the church at the top to see some amazing historical paintings, done by someone clearly devoted to their religion (unfortunately photos aren't allowed). Other than the church and the lighthouse, there's not much...
