Noodle Soup with Preserved Bamboo Shoots + Hot Milk Tea = HKD36.00 No Service Charge
This is a Small Eatery that is located in what looks like the Carpark of someone's Private Landed House. Quite a lot of Customers within but you need to take note that there are no Non-Smoking Zones and you can be sitting right next to a Smoker. Smokers will just light up a Cigarette right next to you while you're eating.
You'll be given a Menu and when you're ready to order, just raise your hand and let the Staff know what you want.
The Staff manning the place is an Auntie and while she is initially Friendly and Welcoming, she gives me the feeling that she can be abit Impatient.
When I ordered this and just wanted to remind that I want no sugar, she suddenly raised her voice and shouted: "YOU ORDERED HOT MILK TEA RIGHT? OF COURSE THERE'S NO SUGAR!" which caught me a little off-guard. And that is even though I spoke Cantonese with her. As a Singaporean, I did not know that Hot Milk Tea in HK by default comes with No Sugar.
Noodle Soup with Preserved Bamboo Shoots + Hot Milk Tea = HKD36.00
I'll be honest, I have no idea what I wanted, so this was actually something that a Fellow Customer next to me ordered. I thought it looked good since I did want to eat a Hot Soupy Noodle Dish and a Hot Cup of Milk Tea during this Cold Morning. No idea what this Dish is officially called in the Menu, so i'll just name it as "Noodle Soup with Preserved Bamboo Shoots"
Its served up very quickly in 1 Min and its quite a Large Bowl. The Noodles used are Packaged Instant Noodles and I think its about 1 Packet worth.
There are no Discernible Aroma I could smell from this Dish. The Main Ingredients, other than the Instant Noodles are Pieces of Bamboo Shoots and Very Small Pork Cubes which I think this is a Canned Product because I've eaten it before but I've forgotten the name. I remember this is also available in Most Singapore Supermarkets.
The Soup itself is Not Overly Salty and has a Slightly Creamy Taste. I have a feeling Abit of Evaporated Milk may also be added here.
This is really a Very Simple Dish. Just Noodles, A Soup Base, Some Pieces of Bamboo Shoots and maybe 1 Tablespoon of that Canned Pork Cubes. For some reason, perhaps it was a Cold Morning, I really liked slurping the Hot Soup and wanted to Drink Dry which I eventually refrained because this is obviously laden with too much Salt and MSG.
The HK Milk Tea here ain't bad and has a Nice Creamy Taste, but I felt somehow the Taste of Tea is actually slightly weaker than McDonald's Version. No Idea how much this cost by itself because the total price of HKD36.00 (S$6.30) is with the Bowl of Noodles.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
Total Combined Price of HKD36.00 (S$6.30) for both Noodles and Milk Tea, I feel is not worth the Money.
There is Nothing Special about this Bowl of Noodles. Its the sort of Dish a Student will make themselves as a Quick Meal before cramming for their Studies. Its really just Instant Noodles and whatever Canned Items you can throw inside.
One thing I didn't like is how I had to sit next to Smokers who will just light up infront of you. So if you don't like to sit with Smokers, I do not recommend to come here.
While the Stall Lady wasn't Overly Hostile, I didn't appreciate her raising her voice at me. It lowered my Dining Mood for this place.
I guess this is typically how Most Hong Kongers behave? She had the typical Hot and Cold attitude that I see for quite a few Eateries here in Hong Kong. Warm and Welcoming at first, but as long as you do something they don't like, they won't hesitate to Raise their Voices.
And that is even when I spoke Cantonese with her. I feel her Attitude may be even Worse if I were to only Converse in Mandarin with her? Who knows?
Unfortunately I did not enjoy my experience at this place. This will be the only Not Recommended score that I give to this Hong Kong Trip.
