City Art Square is an urban art park with a collection of 16 large contemporary sculptures in Sha Tin. The sculptures were erected in 2008 as part of a local beautification project held in conjunction with the Beijing Olympics held that year.
Now you can wander the open public space and see the 16 evenly spaced sculptures, surrounded by trees, open space between New Town Shopping Mall and Sha Tin Park.The area is free to explore and some of the sculptures are actually quite interesting and thought provoking.
I most enjoy Zenith (by Italian sculptor Mimmo Paladino), The Red Box (by Hong Kong based Barrie Ho) and the Slice Chair (by Denmark's Mathias Bengtsson). Others make for nice viewing as well. In the end, this is something that fans of sculpture can enjoy if spending time in Sha Tin during their time in Hong Kong.
