This is one of those places that you look back on your experience and go wow that was special. From the architecture, the history, the staff and the amazing gastronomy. The house of Rong is truly a gem of Shanghai.
You're greeted warmly at the front gate, given a brief history of the building and the notorious family who occupied it. The butler took us around the garden, offered to take photos for us and also to the rickshaw photo op. The building itself is a museum housing the FIRST elevator in Shanghai, the hidden rooms and spiral stair case we spent half an hour just admiring everything.
The dining experice itself is where it all comes together, well thought out traditional dishes that showcased the best of what the season had to offer. The best modern ingredients served in a traditional way.
Each private room is served by your dedicated butler, the wine selection is outrageous and eye watering!
